Shift Knob

I don't know if Mitsu has changed it, but I had the same stock shift knob on my '07 Eclipse GT as the baseball type shifter in the RA. I know it's an automatic and I won't be using it as much (I always use the paddle shifters). But on my Eclipse, it started to deteriorate and fall apart. I had little faux-leather flakes all over the place!!

Has anyone had an issue with this in their '09 (since you've had it the longest)?

Aside from that, are there any nice replacement shift knobs for the RA?

personally, i like the stitching. the shiftknob has an inevitable purpose when your turning + downshifting. there are some nice titanium shiftknobs and such but i'm always worried they will be burning hot in the summer days. the leather knob doesn't get as bad

Any manual replacement knob will fit the RA (just select the right thread pitch). There are specific knobs for reverse lock applications such as the RA.

Do a search for Shift Knob and you should find a thread in the show and shine section about them.

My car is an 09, and I use the manual shifter all the time and the leather is holding up fine, although I only have about 10,000 miles on the car if that matters.

I am a touch under 40K in my 2009, and the leather is holding up fine on mine as well. I do have the aluminum shift knob that 2muchboost posted a picture of, but I have not installed it yet.

Thanks everyone!

I guess I'm just paranoid because it fell apart really badly on my Eclipse GT.

Luckily TWM designed their prototype off my car and I got a free short shift+knob for it.

If you go with TWM, it has to be the M1 Abrams RL but I really like that Lancer Ralliart one.

Is that Lancer Shop site trustworthy?
