Shimmy in Steering while braking??

So I have had my Ralliart since Jan 15 of this year and am already feeling a shimmy in the front brakes while slowing from about 65 mph. Has anyone else gotten this? My car has almost 6500 miles on it already, I'm an IT Consultant so I drive alot. Is this normal for the brakes on this car? I had an 09 GTS before this that had 55000 on it and never had this kind of feel to it, even when it was time to do a brake job on it. I put a call in to my dealership tonight to see what they have to say about it. Ill probably be taking it in this weekend.

Have you been braking aggressively? I have the shimmy but I've been pretty hard on my brakes.

Since I drive all ove the place and in Chicago traffic, I tend to take it a little easier on my cars. I try not to be too aggressive because I need to extend the longevity of the parts on the car. I already have 6500 miles at just over 3 months of ownership, which is mostly highway driving.

Usually you get a shimmy after hard braking which heats up the rotor and causes it to deform slightly = shimmy. It can be caused by aggressive driving and braking or braking hard, say from 65-0 really hard and fast. Best thing is don't let the stealership rob you u can usually get ur rotors turned at a brake or machine shop for a fraction of the cost of replaceing the rotors, althought if its a bad shimmy u will want to replace ur break pads(cant turn those lol).

I'm definately not letting the dealership rob me. I am hoping they will do something about it though. I've had several cars (stangs, supra, 240's....the list goes on and on) but have never experienced anything this fast in the lifespan of the brakes, especially not this fast. IS this soemthing specific with te Ralliarts? like I said I had a 09 GTS before that didnt have anything like this happen to it.

your front rotors are warped and dont bring it to any shop coz you'll void your warranty.

Do you also feel the shimmy when engine braking? I feel a shimmy in the steering wheel when I downshift and engine brake, around 3K rpm.

I do not feel a shimmy when engine braking/down shifting. I was actually testing that out this morning on my way to a client.

Uneven transfer material deposits on your rotors.

LOL!!

The brakes on the RA are from the Outlander. They get cooked sooooo easily. Try to brake so hard at high speeds and you can avoid that terrible shimmy. or just get your rotors shaved.

^this most likely. My rotors are not warped. Under normal braking conditions, everything is smooth, after high speeds, or heavy braking v.i.b.r.a.t.i.o.n

Just got the car back from the dealer. My rotors did have high spots. They shaved them for free and the car feels great now.
