SF Bay Area Shop - Tablet Installation In Dash?

Hey Guys,

I recently bought a 2010 Ralliart that does not have the Nav system. Actually, I didn't want to spend $2000+ on the navigation system since I never find them as good as Android's Google Maps (I think it is a lot easier to search for locations just by inputting some part of the name and having the nav do a google search for me). What I want to do is buy like a Xoom tablet and install it into the dash. Preferably also have it hooked up to the audio system either through RCA or HDMI. Do you guys know of any shops in the SF Bay Area that will do this kind of installation for me?

Thanks for your help!

Sounds like it will have to be custom. Auto Sound Specialist in Union City does custom work. If you want to try it yourself, check out Mp3car.com.

I have a touch screen connected to a laptop in my car. Let me know if you want to check it out. I'm in the bay area.

Hey thanks for the suggestion. I will give them a call and see if they can help. I like your setup though! I saw that you used a Tactrix cable to hook up the computer to the car. Do you know, does a product like this:
http://www.amazon.com/PLX-Devices-Ki.../dp/B004B0C1NE

work well also? (PLX Devices Kiwi Bluetooth). I want to get some real time information about how the car is running and bluetooth seems like an easy way to go. ( I don't need it for tuning purposes.)

I'm not sure if that is the exact model but my coworker has something like that that connects his phone to his Evo and gives real time telemetry.

By the way, where in the bay area are you located?

I mounted a S7 (7" tablet) to my dash but I've recently picked up an Acer W500 10" tablet to mount. Went for the W series as it is windows and Evoscan hasn't released its andriod version yet.

You got any pictures? I'm curious how you mounted it. How do you plan on mounting the 10" in the dash?

you know i take it off when i go to shows and what not cause it is goofy looking but for functionality it works really good. Instead of having to take my eyes to far off of the road to put in music or look at an ipod this is very simple and has my whole library on it
