How loud is the Borla on a one to ten scale, they're around $900-$1000? I'm in Chicago waiting until spring to purchase my cat-back. I'm not getting any other parts for it, just straight bolt-on cat-back. I live in a **** police state, so I don't want anything super LOUD since the whole SWAT team will come after you in illinois over any ridiculous thing. I like a deep growl and nice noticeable tone. I'm thinking of going with the Magnaflow since you can get them for around 500.00 and with this video, it seems to have a nice growl to it and doesn't seem super loud. Any opinions on this exhaust or another I can straight bolt on that would be nice and similar sound?

I'm running the Magnaflow and the intrepid anti-exhaust Ontario police don't give me a second look, AND I have a high-flow cat.

I have the Borla setup and love the sound, deep and throaty...but that being said, it is a bit loud, does turn heads and is not lo-key at all.

+1 on the Magnaflow. Best if your wanting a little more sound, and still get small gains!

Does installing a HFC still get your car to pass emissions?

my borla on a 290 tq vw turbo has a nice sound, not overly loud even when i have my offroad 3" downpipe, borla uses 304 stainless, NEVER rusts, magnaflow uses a lower grade 400 series stainless and will surface rust i read, if you plan on keeping your car go borla, 304 can be polished to a chrome like finish but must be done before a heat-cycle, my 10 yr old exhaust is still excellent, the polished stainless tip still looks like chrome, my car is not a garage queen, has 199,000 miles of pa salty winter roads, remember the turbo blade acts as a muffler as well as the cat, i have seen high flow 200 cell cats advertised legal everywhere but calif, a hi-flow cat can add 10-20 hp depending on its quality and how restrictive the stocker is

Aww, come on, Illinois isn't that bad. It's the city of Chicago that can be a pain, most everywhere else will leave you alone if you aren't driving like an ***-hat.

The biggest thing I see cops pulling people over for noise is rIcecars with nasty raspy droning obnoxious fart-can mufflers driving around like the tools that they usually are. Our cars sound way better with a nice exhaust and most cops will turn the other way as long as its not obnoxious. I've had a few compliment me on my exhaust and how much it didn't sound like an import (once was while writing me a window-tint ticket, lmao, didn't hit me for exhaust tho...) Magnaflow is too quiet, in my opinion, and unless you're looking for something only slightly more than stock, you'll be disappointed

Its someone's lucky day. I got some warranty work that needs to be done and Ive got a new job where I need to tone down my car. Ill need to drive clients around so I'm replacing my exhaust back to stock. I have the turbo back CP-E exhaust and Im willing to trade plus a little cash. PM me. I can help with the shipping.

The exhaust is in great condition and is dyno proven to add noticeable power.

I cant say enough about the CP-E parts. Fit and finish is precise. Tone is second to none and power is truly game changing.
