Bad Vibrations
Bad Vibrations
I seem to be having vibrations through the steering wheel and pedal (alot) when decelerating. The car literally vibrates. Its been getting worse over a period of 2 months.
I have 34,000 km's on the car.
I have original tires (really low tread)
Original tranny fluid (getting changed Thusday)
The only reason Im listing these is because as the tires and tranny fluid became more worn, the vibrations got worse. Could there be a link?

you need to explain what the vibrations feel like, at what speed they occur, and do they come and go or every time.
Does it feel like when you break too heavily and the car shakes furiously?, or is it like a tire balance issue shake? is it a lurch forward? Or could it be your exhaust drone?
between what speeds?
is it everytime, once in a while? car warm or cold?

Your right i needed to state more info.
The vibration happens on acceleration and deceleration.
Deceleration is bad between 90-120km
This is only seems to happen when im moderately hitting gas (2-4k rpm)
NO vibrations under 2k rpm and over 4.5k rpm.
EDIT FROM ABOVE STATEMENT : When I go full out there are no vibrations. (above 4.5k rpm)
Vibrations happen cold OR warm.
Does NOT happen if i break to hard, thats different with these tiny brakes haha (car shakes lol)
Its everytime.
I do have a UR catback, BUT i have never encountered a vibration like this. It SEEMS like it comes from right beneath the gearbox area. The pedal, steering wheel are all effected.
The tires are original with 34,000km on them. I starting to believe thats the issue.

the tires were rotated twice. The tread is very very low. Im guessing thats the problem. New tires is next! I actually was on youtube and the exact symptoms i was expla low tining is due tread or unbalanced tires.
I say tires...if that doesn't fix it tighten the exhaust again. I had my car have really bad vibrations and it turned out that the lug nuts on one of my wheels were coming undone. It was only at certain rpms which made it hard to figure out.
Ok, so i took the car to my cousins garage and there is a large rattle coming from the exhaust, catalytic concerter to be exact.
Everytime you shake or hit (gently) the exhaust theres a rattle that comes from right where the cat is.
We checked all heat shields, rotated the tires, tighted all the bolts and checked all the exhaust hangers and the only rattle is the cat.
ENOUGH to make large vibrations in the cabin?

That's all I needed to read.
This is a very common issue and it's just the inherent driveline vibration in this car and there are numerous posts on this.
Easy way to replicate -- be in fifth gear, between 2000 and 2400 rpm, and let off the gas. Below 2000rpm you won't feel it, above 2400rpm, you won't feel it.
The solution -- don't engine brake in 5th between 2000 and 2500 rpm. I'm not trying to be a dick, that's really the solution. You really won't notice it in automatic, but in manual you do. There's a reason I ride 4th gear much higher in everyday cruising (I used to shift into 5th at 60km/h, now I take it to 67-70km/h) and downshift to 4th much sooner than I used to.
