Jumping to the dark side

Looks like I'll be making the switch to an X. Found an '08 GSR with low mileage which will come out pretty much as an even trade. Wanted a 2010 but they're next to impossible to find. Bringing it to Scarborough Mitsu to throw it up on a lift to make sure it's legit before I commit to it. Wish me luck

You won't regret it. Last friday I went from my 09 Ralliart to a 2010 GSR with SSS. It is a night and day difference. Let us know what you think when you get it. The handling is so nice there is virtually no body roll. The added torque and hp is nice too!

No bodyroll? I have seen Evo X do tripod.
Evo X do have stiffer springs & bigger sway bars so limit is higher.

I want to hear more reason to switch.
Let hear them, as Im sure all of the other RA owners as well.

Tell us what else we are missing.

Mhhh, I went and test drove a new '11 MR, it was nice and all (except for that damn 1st gear limiter). But now that I've put in an X turbo, my RASB is out right faster and handles WAY better than a stock X. Not to say they aren't great cars, they are! Their biggest advantage is the BBK and suspension out the box. However, with coilovers, f&r sways, and other minor suspension odds and ends I can out handle a stock X no problem (yes the X still has body roll, the car still weights in at 3600 lbs, can't be helped).
Sudz, congrats! I'm also thinking of getting an MR next year; new platform plus the Brembo's make it quite attractive
Now if you are referring to stock RA and stock X, well then yes BIG edge to the X. But we don't really need to turn this into a pro's and con's (s/b about a million threads around here somewhere )

The handling is UNREAL. That may have more to do with the coils on mine, though. The RobiSpec KW's put a smile on my face on every corner.

I would want to get one but that trunk space is way too small. Would rather get an evo 8 or 9. An evo X is only good if its your second car.

I drove the Evo X MR & GSR but never drove the Evo X as hard as I drove my RA so I wouldn't know how it stack up. Doesnt feel much different.

Have not driven a stock Evo X, as Im sure it wouldnt be as fast as the one with upgraded parts & E85.

And if by hell you mean a place that is very hot, then yes. My friend's wrx caught fire while he was on his way to work, he pulled over, and it burned to a crisp. He has an X now, lol.

In my case, I wanted to get into a 5 speed, just because I have bad luck with blowing things up. A blown SST is not a laughing matter. I also want the BBK and the AYC. Lets be perfectly clear, I love the SST, and I will miss it. I'd prefer to stay with it, but I have a tendency to destroy car parts and void warranties due to mod bug. A $600 clutch kit is cheaper than having to buy SSP clutch packs or a new SST. Also, I could buy a clutch kit for the price it costs me to due a SST fluid change, and I work for Mitsu...

i have been looking at evo X's because the lack of a REAL MANUAL in the ralliart, sportback my choice hands down, pa winters call for SNOW tires and the evo's big brakes do not allow optimal tire choices with smaller wheels, so i am looking at evo IX cars now, i like the X looks better but practicality must rule, its a driver, i can live with poor mpg since i do not drive much anymore, RETIRED!!!! i would love the X as a sportback with ralliart size brakes so smaller 16" wheels for winter use could be easily installed. i do not agree with the big $$$$ wheel tire trend even when unnecessary for brake clearance!!!!

As far as snow tires are concerned, I've ordered a set of wheels and tires for the X that only cost $200 more than the set I had on my RA. I think the 18" wheel and tire worry is a bit blown out of proportion.
