I think I understand your question and you are confusing shift speed with shift rpm. What you are saying makes sense in terms of SPORT mode holding out for higher rpm before shifting, leading to greater fuel consumption. The actual shift characteristics are what Bryan and Rich are talking about that are the same regardless of AUTO or MANUAL mode selectionOriginally Posted by mitlan
Why is it for manual too? If it is in manual mode, you upshift or downshift whenever you want. I believe I can manually shift the gear in the same speed no matter is normal or sport mode.

I mean upshift *speed*, in that the time it takes to shift, not the actual MPH/KPH.Originally Posted by mitlan

I don't sport mode often, but I've been meaning to get more comfortable with manual shifting and the progressing into sport mode more regularly from there.
Depending on how lead my foot is I get between 20-22 mpg (no tuning, stock engine).

well, I actually find that Sport with Auto make the car sound really like a sport car, Woowoo, but I know that I will need to fill some gas very soon.
When I use Sport and manual, I tend to avoid the rpm going to high as I feel I am hurting my engine.

Most of my driving is to Boston through traffic so i keep it in normal/manual. Occasionally ill drop the sport/manual but ive never taken the ASC off. Dont really **** around in the car due to trying to keep a decent driving record lol

Normal/Auto most of the time, occasionally i do Normal/Manual, rarely do Sport/Manual. Lol. I'm a noob. Haha!

I'm in Sport mode on Fridays and most weekends.
I get stuck in traffic all week long going to and from work so no point there since I'm at idle the majority of the time
On a side note, I've noticed my car won't switch into Sport mode if I do it before the car warms up a bit - not sure if this happens to everyone because a lot of people are claiming to switch into sport mode as soon as they jump into the car :/
The computer tells me I'm in sport mode but the shifts and throttle response occur as if I'm still in normal mode, forcing me to switch back to normal and then back to sport once the car is "ready".
