Bouncing off the rev limiter?

So I was driving in 3rd gear for a while crushing and after a while completely forgot I was in manual. So I got the chance to open it up and started bouncing off for a good 3-4 seconds. Do you guys think any perminate damage was done. I know I have to be more careful from now on. Thanks

I've done that once or twice. Everything seems fine.

I'm sure you'll be fine. That's why there is a rev limiter so nothing terrible happens I've done it before

I did it a few times within 2-3 hours once on a cruise, occasionally switching into manual with the shifter, and not slappping it over, putting it in neutral, bounces off the rev limiter.

Long story short, I threw a rod the 3rd time. So my advice is, dont let it happen again.

That why I drive in ONLY manual, so there is no forgetting (let alone it was designed to be driven manually, auto was an after thought).

^^^^This. Though, with that said, I DID forget to upshift back to 6th for about 30 seconds after down-shifting to 5th to make a pass on a 2 lane road earlier today. This was also after 8 hours of cruising at 74MPH on the interstate too.
