AWC doesn't work

Like the title says. Everything else on the car is fine, but when I try to use the AWC it doesn't do anything. Anyone else experience this problem? I had gotten into a 4k fender bender with a big *** raccoon about 3 weeks ago and I just got my car back from the shop Friday. I noticed it today when it started raining--threw it into gravel; or tried to, and nothing happened.

There was a TSB for the rear dif pump in cold climates IE North America where the pumps timing is delayed to not pump dif fluid until the fluid is up to operating temperature. Dif pumps were failing because they were working to hard in cold weather. I seriously doubt a front impact from an animal had anything to do with messing up your dif. Did you try to see if the connection was good on the switch? i might have loosened? Also the thing is under warranty you might want to get it checked out. Better safe then sorry.

I think mine is on the fritz too. It made it through the winter fine but it seams to be reacting poorly to high heat and getting less resilient. When I drive to work in the morning it has no problems. When I go home and it is 90 out the service warning kicks on. I saw someone else having the same problem.

My question is what, if any, damage could I cause by not getting it fixed right away?

The dealership told me it's not under warranty?..I really hope they're not trying to shaft me, even though they probably are.

I have the same problem, the cars all wheel control service light come on (the light with the four wheels and the front wheels turned). Its turns on, on really hot days, even on cooler days it will turn on after driving for a while. I took it a dealership, thinking it was going to be my pump. Turns out they tell me the pump is working just fine, but the ECU keeps throwing that code, no matter how many times they clear it. So they basically tell me I need to order a new ECU. In a way im glad to hear that because it cheaper than replacing the pump. But Im tuned right now, so I don't know if im going to have to get my car retuned, or can I use the tune i have saved right now. Is what the dealership telling sounding right? Do I need a new tune?

^Your ACD/AWC has a separate ECU, so no, I don't think you need to get tuned.

BTW, mine's doing the same thing. Hopefully that fixes it for you, I'll be doing the same thing if so .

isn't the AWC considered part of the powertrain warranty? I'd check the fine print and see if it's covered. Dealers are retards

Warranty? What warranty? Even if I wasn't at 70k miles, the concept of a warranty makes me giggle and fills my consciousness with butterflies and unicorns gleefully dancing about.

If it's the ACD pump or ACD ECU, then it is not covered under warranty. They're considered "luxury items" and are not critical to the powertrain's function. And not covered at all.

Is there documented evidence where someone was denied warranty work by Mitsubishi because they specifically said that the ACD was a " luxury item " ?

Seems hard to accept.

Now that I'm awake, I think it's covered under the bumper-to-bumper warranty, but not the powertrain. If you're still within powertrain warranty coverage (and still stock, obviously), you can pitch a fit and they may find some other way of paying for it under warranty. Initially, though, they will try to deny warranty repairs outside of the bumper-to-bumper coverage.
