Sportback Bike Rack

Hi guys, i know most people on the forums use the roof rack to lug around their bikes. I was looking to purchase a trunk carrier like the thule raceway that attaches to the trunk and i was wondering if anybody out there with sport backs have any experience with these types of bike carriers? Do they even fit with our spoilers in the way? What are your guys' thoughts about a trunk carrier vs the roof rack itself? I pretty much only ride during the weekends and thought this route would be better for me since i'd be taking the rack off after each use...

anyways, hope somebody out there can shed some light on this since i have yet to see a sport back use a trunk carrier for their bikes...

thanks

I have a 'universal' trunk bike rack that attaches to the top of the hatch and lays over the spoiler. The weight rests on the bumper - but the straps over the spoiler concern me...

For this reason i would recommend a Thule rack (or remove the spoiler - see the show and shine for pix)...

Very easy & quick.

On my last car I had a trunk rack and if the clips dont scratch your paint over time a bike pedal will. Not to mention if you are carrying 2 or more bikes they will be scratching each other and the weight on wing might damage it like the previous comment. For the sportback, just get a roof rack.
