Hello I was looking for some advice, I have this weird clacky sound coming from the area of the belts in my 09' ralliart. I was wondering if anyone has any idea what this could be? I am going to take it to the dealer and see if they can find out cause it needs to be fixed before the warranty expires. My brother is a mechanic and listened to it last night and said it sounds like one of the belt tensioners?....

Maybe it's just the clutch chatter that everyone has with these Twin Clutch transmissions?

 

Do you hear that every single time you turn on your car? or just occasionally?

I have several friend hear similar noise from their car.

 

I hate the way these motors sound. Mine sounds like its tumbling rocks in there.

 

im glad im not the only one, i thought maybe a mount might be worn somewhere or something

Well went to the dealership yesterday and come to find out it was the SST Twin Clutch Transmission that makes that noise, what a relief to here that.

 

Do you mean it is a normal sound from the SST?

 

Hmmm, I think someone proposed that very same solution in the second post of this thread....oh wait that was ME!

 

I have the same sound coming from my engine bay, near the cam. I took it back to where I bought the car at, and they checked it. They said it was fine, that "all" ralliarts make the same noise. But what they did find is that something to do with the programming of the cam was off, the dude said he just upgraded the system. Not sure if that was the sound, but ill keep you posted. Im getting the car back today so hopefully that fixes the issue.

 

I dont have a clank when its running but on cold starts theres a lound "ping" then it starts. I allways figured it was normal because it turn over fine?

 

That's a relief, I've always wondered what that noise is.. And the cooling of exhaust noise after the car is stopped.

 

Yeah . Its normal.. idle knock and cooling of exhaust ( sounds like pretty much the same sound as you just turn off the TV,, you know when you turn off the TV, it sounds like " ddak .. ddak..... ........ddak .." XD )

I have a 2012 RA and it only has 1500miles on it. I have the exactly same sound.. : )
