Transmission fluid
I bought the OEM filter off ebay. Geniune
for $89 (filter and housing $30 cheaper than fred beans)

You can get an oem filter on eBay for around $40 usd if you search under the Volvo part number. Exact same filter used on mitsu, some Volvo, some Ford, some VW, etc.
For fluid, the 8L is total fill. If you are doing a simple drain and fill from the plugs, not including the cooler lines, you only need 5.5L. If you are doing the filter, too (you should) then just add fluid to the canister before installing and you'll be fine. Either way, 6L will be more than enough do the job, so long as you don't disconnect the cooler lines.

There are also fill level instructions posted on another forum.
updated their maintenance service manual for the outlander over seas with better sst instructions. There is a fill hole on the drivers-side wheel well that you fill up to, put the plug back on, start the car, run it through the gears (20 sec in each gear), turn it off, then fill again until it pours out a second time.

Thank You!
That makes soooo much more sense than drain/measure/refill. It just was not 'logical'...

I am doing mine for the first time soon...
Yeah definatly look at the internal diagrams they post on that thread. it shows the seperate chambers and the reason it must be filled, ran and filled again even though it over flows.
If you type in the part number through Google, it should come up with a few offerings. Otherwise, you can try contacting the seller I got mine from on eBay directly, since it appears that they do not have any listed currently. The eBay username of the seller is amc-parts
You are correct. It is an overseas market product, but should be able to special order. It is a bit more costly when ordering through a dealership.

Has anyone tried contacting Jim Ellis Volvo of Marietta from the Google search results yet?
