Good news. Just got back from the dealer since 4wd light came up again multiple times over the long weekend. It was indeed the pump, and it's getting replaced under the third party warranty. Apparently the company gave no trouble whatsoever. Bringing it back in on thursday once the pump arrives

the inspector came and the first thing he did was take pics of the tires then checked the sticker in the door to make sure tires were proper size. looked under the hood, nothing to see there. then he wanted to do a diag and see see the pump for himself. no mention of catback(magnaflow 3"). got approved today, fully covered plus rental! big thing i guess is to have the right size tires on it when the acd pump goes!

So, 215/45/18, or any tire with same diameter? Would 235/40/18 be considered equivalent?

I doubt it. He was looking for a reason to deny the claim. If the tire size doesn't match the sticker, he has a reason.

i had the evo x bbs wheels on with 235/40/18 tires. No issue whatsoever. However I should add that it seems like the whole approval process was done via phone conversation

Did he check all 4 tires? If yes, that leads me to believe he's looking for mismatched sizes which makes more sense.

Well in my case, from where I was sitting, all I could see was the service guy take a quick walk around the car, then he plugged something in it. But yes, all my tires are matching

in my case they apparently wouldnt take the dealers word for it the guy drove over an hour to inspect it for himself. i guess this would be the case for expensive repairs in the future as well. i was told the pump is around $1,500 plus the labor!

I just got back from the dealer and they FINALLY determined that the ACD pump was bad. When the service guy came over to give me the news, he was all sad because it was not covered under the powertrain warranty. I told him I had the extended warranty and he got all excited. He called them for me and they are going to cover everything plus a car rental. The extended warranty was definitely a good buy, as it has already paid for itself.

i agree with big steve, the warranty was a good buy. on the work order they had the pump at $1,100. total for the job was 1,700. warrant cost me $1,600. i'm assuming i cant get a new pump that cheap on my own so i had them give me the old one. if this one goes after the warranty, at least i can drive the car while i send the old one to be rebuilt.
