upcoming third party warranty claims

So I've asked in a couple different places now and figured I'd ask here.

My 4wd service notification has started popping up over the last 4 days. usually after about 20+ minutes of driving.

I plan to take the car in to a mitsu dealer and have them check it out. If it's the ACD pump, I have a Third Party Extended warranty that should cover it. Now for the sake of visual inspection, I've put back the oem UICP, BPV and even drop in filter (there was a WORKS Sticker on it). I'm leaving the catback on because I called my warranty company who said Catbacks won't void anything as long as they're made for your specific vehicle.

What I haven't done yet is flash back to stock tune and pill from GST basemap+boost pill. This is largely because I can't find my stock restrictor pill.

Do you guys think I should bother with flashing back if I can't put the stock pill back anyway? Would mitsubishi care since they're dealing with a third party warranty company and it's not coming out of their pocket?

I'm mainly concerned because besides the ACD pump, I may also get them to check out my tranny for possible replacement (makes a grinding noise on start up occasionally)

If anyone has any experience with having a mitsubishi handle their car with a third party warranty, it'd be great to hear as well

My third party warranty company wouldn't handle my claim because the Mitsubishi tech told them I had an aftermarket part on my car. The part in question? A K&N air filter... The tech told him it was over oiled and caused my problems. Wrong again. Anyway, in your case, literally all your warranty company has to hear from a Mitsu tech is that ONE thing on your car isn't factory and your warranty company has the right to refuse to pay for anything. Good luck.

Ouch that sounds harsh. Kinda glad I put the stock filter back in :/ Maybe I should get an email from the warranty company saying the same thing they told me on the phone about catbacks just in case so I can throw it in their face if they say anything....

man if I could just get a hold of a stock pill I'd flash back though. Btw, Anyone know if flashing back to stock will clear the Service codes stored in the ecu? I'd rather it didn't, lol

You guys need to read this. A warranty cannot be denied for aftermarket parts unless that part directly caused the issue!

That's fine for you guys in the U.S., but I'm not sure if the same would apply in Canada. Do we have an equivalent?

You should ask in the classified section "WTB stock pill" and see if anyone would sell theirs for $10. 10 bucks seems cheap to keep the warranty.

I was actually talking to Mike594, as there is no equivalent to the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act in Canada and I dunno Canadian laws or warranties.

Thank god I just found my oem boost pill hiding in my removed spare tire (will probably put that back as well). So I'll be flashing back to stock

I won't go into TOO MUCH detail about my whole ordeal as im tired as **** and about to go to bed... But I did fax a copy of the Magnuson-Moss warranty act to my warranty company and also faxed them the K&N legal documents ( K&N Legal disclaimer ) . Anyway, after fussing with them about the situation, they told me that it wasn't the fact that I had the filter installed, it was that "the tech said the filter was over oiled and caused your mass air flow sensor to be faulty..." Im gonna quote what the guy told me over the phone here; "I could care less about a K&N filter being installed. Its that it wasnt installed properly or it was misused. Probably over oiled" Ok, whatever guy. Anyway, that was a bunch of bull**** anyway because it turns out that my problem wasnt even my MAF, nor was the problem caused by "over oiling" of a filter. (which by the way is horse**** too; read THIS .) My problem turned out to be a faulty boost pill line and/or boost pill itself. Of course the techs took a month, a literal month, to figure that one out. If you have the time and want a good laugh and/or cringe a little, try Reading THIS .

By the way, I did end up getting everything done for free. Including a new turbo installed, new MAF, some new vacuum/boost lines, new stock pill, and also the throttle body and intake were all cleaned. Mitsubishi bit the bullet and paid for that bull**** even though the vehicle wasn't under warranty anymore. They got the hint that I was pissed I guess when I started throwing terms at them like "lawyer" "attorney" "lawsuit" "*****es better fix my problem".

Im glad it worked out for you!! Ive come to find out that Mitsubishi is really ****ty when it comes to warranty work. Also, most Mitsu dealers that Ive dealt with have had no clue what they are doing when it comes to working on my Ralliart. Every time Ive run into a problem theyve never been able to figure it out and always tell me theyve never heard of that issue before.
I had my ACD pump go out, which wasnt covered by warranty. I removed the pump sent it to be rebuilt and then reinstalled it. I took it to Mitsubishi to bleed the pump and get it programmed to wrk again and after 4 hours they couldnt figure it out. It was a joke! I ended up figuring out how to bleed the pump myself and then they sent me a bill. Hahahaha, needless to say I didnt end up having to pay it but they are a joke! Theyll always try to find an excuse not to cover major things under warranty.

I'm currently in the same boat as you. I put everything back to stock, flashed back to my stock map, and cleared the DTC's. After I did that, the AWC light did not come back on. I still ended up taking it to the dealer and when they tried to pull the codes, they said that nothing was stored. It's been a few weeks and now my AWC light flashes every time I drive the car. I'll be taking it back to the dealer in the next week or two and will be hoping for the best. I also have a third party warranty, so I'll be anxious to see what they say.

Ya the same thing happened to me yesterday. I assume it's because flashing to stock cleared the codes. They couldn't find anything stored so I have to drive around until it comes back up. You should be good to take it in now since it popped up after you flashed back to stock. if you do, let me know what your third party says :P

warranty

i brought my car to the dealer today for the awc light flashing. came up with c161f which they had to refer to the tech line because the codes are a through e. anyway, it came back as the acd pump as expected. the dealer did not care what mods i have on their end, the warranty co. however, is sending out a field inspector to look at the car in the a.m. the only thing i cant change back is the cat back. i will let you know how i make out.
