Reverse stall - RPM dip
Reverse stall - RPM dip
Sometimes when I put the car into 'reverse' it acts like it wants to stall. It hasn't stalled yet, but the RPMs dip like crazy, usually going down to like 300~. This A) only happens AFTER the car has warmed up and is operating at its normal 700~ RPM idle. and B) it only wants to stall if I dont give it gas. As soon as I give it a little gas or a rev it seems ok... It's just weird. Has anyone else dealt with this or heard of this? I know my tranny fluid and diff fluids are overdue for a flush/fill. Car has 46K on it and I don't believe either of those fluids were ever changed. (I bought the car used.) I will be doing that in the next couple weeks. But again, just wondering if this has happened to anyone else, or if this is a common occurrence with this cars at certain points in their lifespan. Thanks guys.
To be more accurate in explaining and helping you guys understand: This all happens on level ground, no inclines. There doesn't feel like there is any resistance or something like that. I never notice any smoke or smell of any kind. Its just so weird. RPMs dip way down and it almost stalls, but doesn't.
Were you able to scan and check for any codes when the RPMs wobbled?
I had a somewhat similar issue with my first RA, which ended up being related to the throttle body/throttle position switch (as they are both one unit on our cars and can not be replaced separately).

No codes or check engine lights. Did a visual hose connection check, everything is tight and seems fine. Car acts and drives normally, besides this one thing with reverse, which doesn't happen constantly, just every-so-often.

No one has ever had an issue like this or similar, or has ever heard of it? I'm hoping it goes away when I do my tranny fluid change. 47K on the original fluid, so I'm sure the filter is gummed up and the fluid is worn out.

Mine has done it since I bought, but only on very hot days. It only happens after the car has been fully warmed up then sat for a little bit then I try to drive off again. I always figured it was all the heat since these cars tend to heat up, especially in hot weather.
