Hey guys, when I experienced this the first time I really didn't give it much notice but now it happened twice and figured I share with you guys. Twice when I was going in reverse in my parking lot my car just died. It was strange since I didn't think that an MR can stall like that. I only have 8K on it and it's all stock.

Any thoughts?

 

not even cobb ots map? i used to have this problem when i had the older version of cobb ots map, but with stock map, its impossible to stall.

 

Since it's a brand new car and completely stock I'd take it straight to the dealership.

 

Might not be the same, but my old 09 Lancer GTS (CVT, I know MR is different) did the same thing while backing out from my driveway. Stalled, then wont start for like 30 seconds. After that, it started normal again. Happened twice. For me it was the battery cable loose...

 

Was thinking about going to the dealer, but was also skeptical about them doing anything without being able to reproduce the issue at will. And yes, the car is completely stock and never had anything done to it.

 

Battery cable seems a good idea to check. 2014 stock MR here, never had this issue ever.

 

I had this happen to me a couple times also . Both times it was hot out and on a light sloped driveway .... Second time it wouldt start up pumped the accelerater a couple times and away it went . ----08 mr 25k kms just k&n intake. Hasnt happened for awhile never looked into it

 

09 x mr no prob .It can be simple things.Like your car takes premuim but u using reg gas.Stuff like will cause a stalled.

 

Check the battery cables and also check the vacuum hose on the fuel pressure regulator. I've seen the hose blow off completely stock EVO's.

I had this happen to me twice going in reverse as well when I use to own a 08 MR with 34K miles. I thought I would be the only one with this problem but it seems to be common issue for some MR's. Since then I traded the car in for GSR and never looked back.
