New ralliart owner/member with a few questions

Hello everyone, a bit of info about myself. I'm 23 living in KCMO and in November I purchased a black 2011 Mitsubishi ralliart. Traded in 2010 lancer es for it. So far I absolutely love it. but, I would love it more if I could mod it myself. So far it's all stock except for the tinted windows. I'm not really comfortable enough to start moding it myself without hardly any knowledge. I'd probably end up messing something up. And i wouldn't even know where to start. It's my daily driver as of now. so for my first question, where would i start? I don't want to do anything crazy like make it a 10 second track car, but i wouldn't mind making it a bit quicker. My second question, since it's a sportback and not a regular sedan, would that change anything? and my last question, Is there anyone/any place local that teach me? I would love to learn more about my car and how to fix/mod it.

The easiest mods you could do yourself is to change the BOV, UICP and drop in filter. The BOV and UICP are a matter of loosening some clamps and swapping the part. No taking apart bumpers or dismantling to get to anything. Just make sure everything is sealed properly when you put it back together. The drop in filter is quite simple, if you buy a K&N it will come with instructions on how to open the airbox to replace the filter. I too hardly have knowledge on working on cars, but those 3 are simple enough for me to do it on my own and in my garage.

^ What he said. While I'm not as new to modding cars as you seem to be, I am new to mitsu and I feel what you feel as I'm still wet behind the ears in modding all togeher. But yeah from what I have researched on this forum is that a OEM evo X Intercooler and piping, a stock evo x BOV and a drop infilter are kind of the mods that it seems everyone does. Then an exhaust.

I hope you find someone near you, as I am trying to do the same. Back when I had my civic the buddies I made were invaluable when it came to needing help. I reccomend looking in the regional sections of this forum and finding some meets near you. Make friends and then go from there. Read, read, read on this forum as this car has been out long enough for almost everything you want to do to have been done. That means you can learn from other's trial and error as far as what works well.

Welcome,
Still new here myself
as everyone has mentioned the stock evo x intercooler, Upper intercooler pipe(uicp), Lower intercooler pipe(licp) , and bov(blow off vlave, bypass valve) are the basic mods, I'm in the process of doing the same myself.

This link is a mods list and brief explanation how your turbo car works.

And the Sportback is essentially the same except we have that built-in Thule roof rack adapter

No, sedans do not have them

Slide the covers forward and you expose a screw hole. These are for the Thule[tm] rack feet.

As for power upgrades the upgraded air filter is a must. From there you will need the COBB Accessport to do a stage 1 programthen anything else any more substantial (i.e. turbo or cat back exhaust or piping and intercooling upgrades) you'll need the stage 2 and probably the 3 port boost controller. I would suggest the Accessport as a first upgrade, then you can go from there.
