Plz Help. Sweet smell in cabin when car is hot.

2010 Lancer Ralliart, 49443 miles
So last week (Thursday) i was driving back from work (94miles ish) and about 10mins from home i started to smell something sweet. at first i thought it was the car in front of me but it turned and still could smell it. when i got home i smelled and looked under the hood but nothing. No leaks or odors under the hood. the out side temp was about 100F and i was using my A/C.

I suspect a heater core line is leaking. would this be the sweet smell?

No wet spots on my floor in the car. it smells different than antifreeze. It only smells when the car is hot. No smoke anywhere.

Any info would be great. I have been searching for about an hour on the internet with no help.

It could still be a pin hole leak in the heater core.

it could also be a bit something in the air vent system (check the filter).

Give it a week - does it get worse or better?

+1 on this, just because there is no visible leak of wetness doesn't mean there can't be a leak. Try to keep aware of it and if the smell persists, have someone look at it.

Pressure test the cooling system and check throughly for leaks. After you reach the desired PSI close the valve and disconnect the air line. Check it after 30 minutes or so and see if the pressure dropped. That would be a sure way to know if you have a leak. I have not had to do a pressure test so I am not sure what the cap is rated at but do not exceed the PSI rating on the radiator cap.

Exactly, a pressure test is the only way to tell 100% if you have a coolant leak somewhere. It definitely sounds like a heater core problem but with that low of mileage, not a very good thing.

Thx for the advice everyone. I will be taking it to the dealership for the blower recall so I'll have them check things out for me.
