Speedometer over reading
Hey guys. Im having some issue with my ralliart. I notice this long time when i bought my 2015 ralliart but never bother going to the dealership because i thought it's normal. So my cluster gauge reads 65kmh but my actual speed is 60kmh. It doesn't matter how fast or slow im going, it reads 5kmh more than my actual speed. Confirmed this using my diagnostic tool. All wheels gives me the same number but my speedometer is over reading. Does anyone having the same thing or is just mine?
Anything less then 10% of on the speedometer, is considered normal, on most, if not all cars. The car always shows a higher speed then it is actually going, intentional, since the manufacturer isn't interested in picking up a bunch of speeding tickets from car owners that were on the legal limit according to the speedo, but actually was speeding in reality.
If you only first noticed it with your ralliart, gratz.
You can play around with tire dimensions and get pretty close to "right" but as they wear, the speedo and actual speed will start to differentiate more and more.
Anyone with a reasonably new phone can check how much they are off, just start the GPS, and get your speed reading from it. If you have a navigator, it might show speed on screen as well.
Bad thing about this... The speedo is of by 10% ?
That means so is your number for how far the car has been driven. Affects the sale price, if you ever plan on selling it, i suppose... At 100.000km, it's only actually been driven 90.000...
