2016 Lancer CVT or high mileage 2015 Ralliart
Hello everyone!
I am new to forums in general so im not sure if this is the right way to approach or ask this but. I currently have a 2002 avalon XLS with 180k mi on it. Its got an evap leak and some other wear related problems so I'm looking at getting a new car. Im stuck between picking the lesser of two evils I feel, so I would like to ask this. Should I get a used decent mileage (78k mi) 2016 lancer ES AWD that has the CVT. Or a 2015 lancer ralliart (cheaper by a couple thousand, but at 170k mi). Ive heard horror stories from both sides, from both a mitsubishi tech, and reddit. The smart thing to my family is to get the CVT with decent mileage. But ive heard thats about where people have trouble with the CVT and have to have it fixed (I also have only 1 service record of "inspected transmission" on the report). And a catastrophic failure is nearly 5k to fix. And at that point ive seen people who had to replace or fix the SST in the ralliart and its close to about the same cost to fix as the CVT (there is also multiple transmission maintenance and fluid changes on its report). I dont care much for fuel economy since I currently get 15mpg, and honestly the additional features on the Ralliart seem more of a choice for me. Is it really something that id have to test drive and feel for? Ive never felt a slipping transmission before, and my current car already shifts really hard.
Any input is welcomed!
Thank you
