You'll probably need like a 5-10mm spacer and you should be fine rubbing wise.

errrr 5-10mm spacers and it will be fine rubbing wise?.. Rotorglow those specs should be fine without rubbing but if you want to make sure it doesnt rub go for 225 tires instead..

adding 5-10mm spacers would cause more issues with rubbing as it would really push out the rims more..

Do you realize how small 5mm is? I saw a guy with a lancer GTS, which has the same fenders as the RA running 18x8.5 et30, people in this forum just havent experimented with wheel widths and offsets yet. Especially since rotorglow is only running an 8inch wide wheel he can run a 225/40/18 all day and not rub.

didnt say he will rub with 5-10mm spacers just saying he has more of a chance to rub compared to his current wheel specs.. don't know why the mechanic says you need spacers as your current wheels specs should fit with not problems unless you want your wheels to sit more flush with the guards...

I'm guessing it wasn't the fenders his mechanic was worried about rubbing but the springs.

yeah stock height you shouldnt have a problem with the fenders... just wants to move them out a little to clear some space on the inside. if you ever lower you are going to have some issues though

18x8 +40 will = fronts will be flushed and rears will need a 5mm spacer to be closer to being flushed [10mm maxed out]
Inner Clearance: 7mm LESS Outer Face Position: 15mm MORE
Tries: 235/40 18 no rubbing issues with stock height

with this offset i wont want to move the front anymore farther a then 19mm is already 3/4" more out then stock this will be flushed with out poking or rubbing the fenders... now with the rears.... i would say get some custom made hub centric 7mm spacer... that will push it out just enough to flush it out but keep everything inside the fenders when lowering the car... now if you want o max out the rear you can us 10mm spacer just make sure is hub centric... and this will add 10mm to the rear making it 29mm with means its about 1 1/8" more outer then stock which means it pushing really close to the fenders when lowering the car...

i hope this helps

Anybody experiences a 18x8.5 with of course 235/40/18?

Thinking of putting those and planning to lower a bit with prolly eibach prokit.

are you lowered? and tucked?

with that offset

18x8 +30 will = fronts will be poke out about 1/2" flushed and rears will be flushed
Inner Clearance: 3mm LESS Outer Face Position: 29mm MORE
Tries: 235/40 18 no rubbing issues with stock height

lowered will need to run 225/45-18 it you do not want to roll you fenders

Stock GTS and the RA does not have the same rear suspension, thus you can not compare fitment on those 2 vehicles

thats why in the i started this thread!!! is to help all the RA owners that want aftermarket wheels to have some good info to choosing the best offset and width for there usage... plus the GTS and RA run the same stock wheels?? make it same offset and width!!!

also suspension has nothing to do with how far you want your wheels to be flush.... thats why having all the best fitting offset info and how much more space it needs and if it rubs... makes it easy to have a good stand on where to start.... and still updating... as people post things they try.... we will learn from each others....

now if you want to tuck your wheels to get the your car slammed... then thats a whole new ball game.... then we are taking about stock lower to the max level and getting the space we have left to work with.... to match a prefect offset to keep all wheels inside the fenders without rubbing... now we can max out the fitment with rolling the fenders and also spacer... or even just order some HRE, I forge, kenisis, or other 3 piece customs....

I just found out I got 18X8 with +35 offset not +45 maybe thats why he said I need a spacer???

Any thoughts?

18x8 +35 will = fronts will be flushed and maybe even poke out just a bit and rears will need a 5mm spacer to be maxed flushed for lowering
Inner Clearance: 2mm LESS Outer Face Position: 24mm MORE
Tries:
225/45 18 will have no rubbing issues with stock height
235/40 18 SHOULD have no rubbing issues with stock height
***aggressive fitment in the front***

this fitment will push it out one 1 inch... which in my opinion is too much we only have about 3/4" maxed to make it flushed from the stock wheels offset

***if lowered the front will rub!!! on all dips bumps and drive when the car's weight is transfer from front to back and side to side over bumps...the tires sidewall should be pretty close to the fenders as there are in stock height***

you might wanna do a fitment test and put in the front wheels with the tires at a local wheel shop and see how close it is to the fenders but just realize that when the car is on the rack... there will be no load on the wheels... i must be sitting on ground level and it should give you a good sense of how much poke it will be and if you can lower your car...
