2009+ Lancer RalliArt Sedan & RA Sportback Wheels/Tires Fitment

unpractical and unusable (and many would consider unsafe)
I am contemplating to buy a new set of wheels because I find my current setup not aggressive enough (18x9 +35). I was wondering if anyone tried to fit a 18x10 wheel on a RA in the past.

Yes! I have seen your Build thread in the past and it gave me the thought to actually go with fender flare. I just don't know if I have the guts to actually cut into my fenders. Can I ask you where you got these fender flare? Thank you!

I would be glad to know what do you believe is unpractical and unusuable. Stretching a 225 tire on a 10'' wheel? Come on.

That being said, 225 is a fair stretch on a 10" wheel and I do believe it to be impractical in uses for which many people would want a car such as this. The average RA owner seems to want a sporty, yet reliable car that they can use regularly but still see a fair amount of fun from aggressive driving. With the AWD platform, it naturally lends itself to weekend warriors and exit-ramp daredevils. Again, this is more a matter of my curiosity as to what you plan on doing with the car with a fairly aggressive stretch of relatively small tread block.
This then leads to my mention of safety, where, if you take my previous comment and expand upon it, it leads to the general assumption that these cars will be used for, at least, semi-aggressive driving at some point. While a lot of us do invest in separate rolling stock for track/fun use, there are many who choose not to, whether the reason be financial or otherwise.
The point I'm trying to make here is that while you may be choosing a setup like this to cruise around town and for your aesthetic pleasure, you cannot argue the fact that it is not an ideal setup for heavy driving. I'm also not attempting to belittle your intelligence, but while you and others may be aware of that fact, there are bound to be some who are not and will quickly find themselves driving dangerously well beyond the limits of the wheel/tire combination in question.
I believe they were just universal eBay fender flares, iirc

Im sorry if this has already been covered, but I couldnt sit down and read 69 different pages. haha (I did try though)
I have a 2010 RA Sportback, I am on Tein Springs and was thinking about doing new wheels. I was looking at 18x8 45mm offset with either 235.40.18s or 245.40.18s.
When I bought my car it came with stock wheels and 245.40.18 tires.
I love the look of it but I would like new wheels.
I do not rub anything now, would there be a difference if i did the 18x8s with 245s? (Rubbing, fenders, etc) Or what about the 18x8s with 235s?

You may rub on hard turns and dips in the road, especially with a bunch of people in the car, but you should be able to get along without. If you're already spending the 1k-ish for coil-overs, though, a fender roll seems like a no-brainer to me. That way you have unlimited options for the future, as well.

I dont see anything on the original post for any tire wider then a 235 for the 18 x 8.5 +48. Im about ready for some new tires and with the power I should be making on e85 and the ef2.5 I need more meat. Do you guys think Id be able to run a 255 or at least a 245 on the wheels I have on my car which are the 18 x 8.5 +48? Im running a 5mm spacer in the rear too.
