Rotor replacement???

Well I was looking at my wheels yesterday and I decided I need new rotors to set the look off more. Has anyone tried a set of slotted cross drilled rotors and if so, which company? Since we share the same rotors as the GTS, I might as well give it a shot.

Brembo doesnt have rotors out yet. I'm prolly going to buy a set of slotted cross drilled for the GTS and put them on my RA

I plan to throw a set of these on the car when it is time. I use this brand on my bike with quite satisfying results :-)

search around the forums before you buy, slotted is a great idea for heat dissipation; but with any heavy track time, cross-drilled is probably not the best idea since they have a bad habit of cracking in high heat heavy braking applications. just do your research before you buy and know what you are going to want from your brakes performance wise and choose based on that, not looks or the latest trend. brakes are definitely one of the systems you dont want to skimp out on.

Front Rotors are available. Rear GTS / RalliArt Rotors are in Production when I last checked.
The Rotors I grabbed are confirmed Brembo's Unfortunately, due to the design constraints, cross drilled may not be available. I had an option of going with Slotted or a special slotted config, and I decided to go with the special config. I am hoping the 302 mm rears are done by New Years.

keep everyone posted as things develop.

I contacted Frozen Rotors last night and asked about the 2009 Ralliart. I got a response tonight, they do have replacements for the RA, not loaded on their website yet, they hope to have updates by the end of January.

Price $95.56 each front and $92.22 each rear.

They also asked if I needed brake pads, didn't list prices or brands.

Has anyone here used them before? I have read a couple of glowing reviews.

Old thread, but I've always liked Stoptech's stage 2 upgrades.

Slotted rotors, pads, ss lines, Motul brake fluid.

More info from Frozen Rotors, they offer drilled and slotted rotors "Roto Tech Cryo" prices are $133.15 each front and $137.33 each rear. They also have the Hawk Performance HPS pads for the front $85.12 no Hawk pads for the rear , but the dealer recommended Centric Posi Quiet pads for the rear $63.69.

So here's what I am looking at for my first major upgrades:

Front Discs Roto Tech Cryo Drilled/Slotted $266.30
Rear Discs Roto Tech Cryo Drilled/Slotted $274.66
Front Pads Hawk Performance HPS $85.12
Rear Pads Centric Posi Quiet $63.69
AMS Stainless Steel Braided Lines $155.00
Motul Brake Fluid $17.95 (qt)

The whole set up will be around $900, as opposed to dropping $1,439.95 for a big brake kit (front only), and should be more than enough to handle the occasional hard driving (braking) I impose on my car. The set up should also last longer than the sock set up Mitsu put on the car and HOPEFULLY I will see a lot less brake dust on my wheels.

Anyway, I will let you all know how it works out.

Oh, and yes, I know, brake are not exactly the most glamorous upgrades for our car, but I'm a practical guy.

I will probably throw in the Eibach (PRO-KIT) lowering springs (1.2 front .8 rear) while I am at it, I hear the RRM springs (1.5 front 1.25 rear) are having bump stop issues.

Brakes are definitely a great upgrade! No shame in that. =)

I would upgrade the brakes before anything else. Always has been my first upgrade on all my cars except this one. Waiting to see what other options we will have. Good luck bro and post some feed back when its done.

Yeah, the only thing I will be upgrading is the pads until I weigh my other options.

OEM rotors are garbage, if you get a more aggressive pad, its going to put additional stress on the rotors. Of course, it also comes down to how you drive. Aggressive Braking or a more passive type. I have seen alot of guys in the middle toast their regular gts lancer. And since your RalliArt set up should be a little more hands on, it may not last in the in rotor department. The fronts are the worry, rear, should be able to cut it. Hell being 300mm in size.

True, but again, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I'm not impressed with the rotors available at this point in time, and when I'm ready to replace them, I'll decide whether I want to stick with OEM brake calipers or go with brake kit.
