LOL! Jeez, give the guy a break! English may not be his first language. I helped a buddy with springs today (Swift Sports). His first one took a long time because Discount Tire torqued the crap outta the lugs! We broke 2 extenders on those lugs!!!

After that, the remaining 3 were like butter. He went from "I shoulda paid a shop $200" to "I would take $200 to do that for someone!" haha!

No need for a spring compressor. I just used an impact gun to slowly decompress the spring.

thats both dangerous, and stupid.

A spring compressor rental is FREE, and allows you to remove bolts without the issues of it shooting or hurting you.

Even with a vice, spring compressor, and 2 big guys we still have decompression issues with it jumping around. Doing it without is worthy of a Jeff Foxworthy stupid sign.

Agreed, but the rental isn't always free. Thankfully I have a set and loan them to whoever needs them, and I don't mind helping with the swap either (so easy). I would definitely not use an impact gun to "slowly" uncompress.

With spring compressors, and an extra set of hands (if you really want to be safe) you're fine. Spring compressors and aimed at your nearest unfriendly neighbor works too.

in canada, you can rent them at canadian tire for 104$ canadian. Once you return it, you get the 104$ back.
