So just a question for you guys.
Would you go with option a or b.
A being get winter tires for the stock rims.
B being buy a cheap set of wheels and winter tires for them.
With whatever being chosen I will be getting new tires and wheels for when the weather gets nice regardless of option a or b being chosen therefore what happens to the stock wheels doesn't matter if they become my winter set, spare set, get sold.
Money isn't a huge issue for me.

I kept my all-seasons on the stockies and put winters on new alloy rims.
If the timing went my way, I would've dumped the tires off the stockies, put winter tires on, then bought summer tires in a wider size on a wider rim.

Option B is what I did except I did it in the dead of winter after sliding around on the summers .. the store was out of cheap 16" steelies. Good idea to get them now!
Also I did not get TPMS sensors put in and had to deal with the annoying warning for 4 months. I may end up getting a clone set for my winters though.
If you go option A you will be paying a lot for 18" winter tires!

I bought a set of winter wheels on 16" rims from tire rack.
I'm using the last of the tread on my stock oem tires and wheels (summer only).
I also have a set of 18x8" rota torques with conti's DWS.
Soon as I completely finish stock tires and sell the rims, I will have the Rota torques/allseason tires and winter wheels only.
When I finish the tread on my all seasons I will get summer tires.

Thanks for all the replies guys. It seems from my pricing that it may even be cheaper to get a cheap set of 16/17" wheels and do snow tires on them versus forking out a ton to get tires that fit the stock 18".
I swore I read a good thread here about winter or all season tires but I cannot find it now. Figures right when I need the thread. Would anyone have a suggestions about all season tires or good tires for winter in MA using the stock rims? I plan or hope to buy a set of MR rims and put my stock summer tires on to those. So in the end I would have two sets of rims and tires. One for winter and one for summer.

That's pretty much the way most people around here do it. Check around Craigslist for wheels for Eclipses and Galants too. They tend to have much more variety available and the prices are usually VERY reasonable. I managed to find a set of 16's from a 2g Eclipse with almost new Conti DWS tires for dirt cheap.
like 17x7 or 17x8, and you know the offset? +46 like oem?
i want to buy a set like that for the ''off road track'' i do somethime. 225/50/17
i have a GTS 2010 come with 18 inch, i think is the same configuration of the ralliart.

I do a set of steel wheels from Tire Rack for winter, it's cheaper to buy them with tires than to buy snows for the OEM wheels.
Plus side: keeps your OEM wheels from getting salted - so they look nice for longer
Minus side: they had no way to mount the TPMS in the steel wheels so it complains about them needing service all winter....
Also note that if you get wheels with TPMS for winter, you will need to go to the dealer to have your car set up to read the new sensors ( some charge $100 for this ) then undo that same process when you switch back to the OEM wheels ( another $100 ) - I'll put up with the warning for another $200/year.
Dealers were charging that much in 09 when I decided to go this route not sure if they still do.

Wow my thread is still rolling. I forgot to come back and update. I ended up buying a set of Michelin Xi-3's for the stock wheels (caught them on a big sale) and then this spring bought a new set of wheels and tires and got cloned TPMS installed in them.
