Injen CAI set to be released
i agree i dont think a na motor will gain 50hp with exhaust and tune but as you said a car makes power based on air and fuel flow. a lot of cars today are highly restricted due to new emission controlled systems. if you seen the intake on the focus you would crap a brick lol and the 3 resonators on the exhaust plus the catand pre-cat, crazy restrictions. thats why when you remove the heavily restricted air box it creates larger amounts of power than an average vehicle. like i said you can not expect gains like that on every 4 cyl or 8 cyl for that matter but for some vehicles it is absolutely possible. like i said hundreds of focus owners cant be wrong.
im not familiar with the lancer (thats why i said i only am familiar with the focus) so im not sure if its possible with a lancer, and im not arguing that it is possible with the lancer. im just saying that for some(not many) 4 cyl that it is possible. if the lancer is not very restricted then i agree you would not see very signifigant gains from bolt ons 10-15 hp max for IHE
if you actually read his posts, he did a base dyno run with no mods at 127hp - he then did his mods and did another dyno run and made 149hp ergo a 22hp increase... so therefore he has 2 dyno runs - the difference between the two is the gains he has made. not sure if i can explain it anymore simpler - everyone is entitled to their own opionions, but in this case, it is backed up with facts unlike the claims you are making. let it go mate
+1 ^ just let it go.....
now with all that said and done.... otter is right...
the best cold air intake will be right off the turbo short and fat pipe up to the hood and cut a hole in the hood and do a direct cold air ram intake like turbo drag cars... lol
other then that... the intake might end up not giving any gain... with a stock RA.... too long of a pipe, to many bends... and looks kinda small for a CAI... if you ask me... and i guess yes you are getting a bit of colder air behind the fender where the tranny cooler sits behind the foglight... and there not gonna be much airflow to that area... because of the wheel well...
nomatter what system a SRI or a CAI its all the air is gonna get baked like a **** once it hit the turbo.... what you really wanna do is cool down the air going into the engine!!! that where all the power will be made...
but dont get me wrong injen is a great company... makes great mods... i just dont thing this will be the best one for the RA...
what we really need is the have a direct cold air box intake system that will have heat shields and have direct ram air form the front off the car... till i make one out a CF there will never be such a intake system yet... lol
i would stick to what otter is saying... get the hard pipes, bigger intercooler, and do a 3" turboback... you will see some gain there... top it off with a tune...
shoot drop a bottle too if you what...
not to start a war.... here....
everyone just grab a beer and chill out
its gonna be a hot summer
but i hope to see some real good gains with it CAI ...

I wouldn't get too excited. Just take a look at that piping, they made it bend all over the place just to squeeze it in there, and it's likely not the ideal diameter due to clearances. I just don't see how that'd be a better option than a simple SRI with a fat pipe. Regardless of whether your intake is an SRI or CAI, your intake air is going to get baked due to compression and a hot turbo. IMO, your money would be better spent on upgrading your charge pipes and intercooler.

Anyways, while I agree the design isn't perfect (small piping, lots of bends), I think it's better than all the SRI out there. For those that think an intake is an intake on a turboed car, do a search on NASIOC for the SPT intake. On the STI, people actually lost power because the air going in was hotter and thus more likely to cause detonation. The colder the air, the better. It doesn't matter if it's colder going into the turbo, that still translates to colder going into the engine. A bigger intercooler isn't always best, remember, the bigger the intercooler, the bigger the pressure drop (generally speaking of course).
Apparently Injen is releasing their intake for the Ralliart on May 28th. From the small picture on their website, it looks to be a true CAI, not a SRI.
