Turbo Flutter???

Hey guys, sometimes at real weird occassions I'll get a turbo flutter while shifting. I'm running the OEM X Setup with Ultimate-Racing Short ram and Evo IX BOV. Could it be that the BOV isnt adjusted right? I'm thinking about ordering an Agency Power bov after New Years.

take off the exhaust manifold heat shield.

look down toward the turbo inlet. you will see the arm going from the waste gate over to the actuator.

unclip the clevis from the waste gate and turn ( tighten) the clevis a turn or two.

put the clevis back on the waste gate and go for a drive.

the waste gate will stay closed, longer/tighter.

I'm sorry but how will adjusting your wastegate, the part that dictates how much boost you make, have any effect on turbo flutter? How do you even know you're experiencing true turbo flutter? If all you're noticing is additional noise, it's likely the intake. Are you tuned for it? If no, that could raise issues. If it's true turbo flutter, that's generally caused by the BPV malfunctioning causing pressurized air to essentially slam into the vanes of the turbo, slowing it down.

is he referring to the surging sound. I get it all the time, thats not a wastegate flutter LOL.

Its a small turbo, heard it many times before on many cars, and the sound is there regardless of weather you have an intake or not, the intake just lets us hear it.

Its not a small turbo, its an X twin scroll. And it only happens right after shifting, so it very well could be the BOV. But Idk how or if you can adjust a stock IX bov. Any advice?

Like once I shift from 4th to 5th or 5th to 6th, right after I shift my boost drops and it bounces irratically and makes a ss-ss-ss-ss-ss sound. and I decided an fp red for now cuz I'm trying to get a widebody from PR or Singapore, and I'm waiting on more SST upgrades.

Are you tuned specifically for the intake? I don't see anything in your setup that would indicate you're maxing out the BOV, if it is the BOV, it's either installed incorrectly or broken. I see no reason to spend big bucks on a new BOV when you could easily just get another IX or X BOV on here for cheap.
