Rattle Noise

So I installed the HKS drop in filter and now my engine makes like a rattle noise at idle and low RPMs. I don't remember it doing this prior to the filter change. I did recheck it and it looks fine.

Yeah, there have been several threads on this already. Everyone kind of has their own description of how it sounds, but it is really just our TC-SST selecting/deselecting clutch plates.

^ either that or possibly injector and/or lifter noise. both items are very common for being noisy on any mitsubishi in production

no problem. easiest way to tell is pull off the black plastic cover that says mivec turbo on it, just pops up, and you will see the valve cover and everything. just touch the valve cover or one of the injectors lightly. if you feel vibration in time with the noise, thats your culprit. otherwise may be the sst or something else like the others said.
