Do you by chance go to Hyatt Mitsubishi in Calgary? Even when i had my Lancer they were quite mod friendly. However, this is an individual case and by no means represents every dealership out there. Hyatt could easily just say no one day and there's effectively nothing you can do about it.

yes amby i realize its case by case as to which dealers say what and fix what, i go to platinum with no issues. Macro tried to make it very apparent that we were all in the wrong for modding, and that even though i know i still have warranty, because he talked to mitsu directly, that i was infact wrong, and didnt still have a warranty.

I have spoke directly to Mitsubishi and they said that by modifying your exhaust you increase power to the engine and that in turn can be blamed for sst failure or engine failure.
I wish You where right and I was wrong believe me. Its bulls%$t that dealers say to guys exhausts mod chips intakes are ok with warranty beacuse they are NOT
Furthermore, as is and has been mitsu's policy on warranty as i ran a mitsu parts department for a year, a cat back exhaust (for mitsu canada) can only void the emissions warranty of the exhaust system itself unless they can verify the part caused the malfunction. For a performance oriented company in a performance oriented continent to void a warranty over something is very rare. West side where i worked was against selling mods, but warrantied everything that came through. The only people who ever had issues were the first time issue sort of ordeal, i.e. the 2006 eclipse engine blowing at 2300 kms, when it was brand new, that took time to push through.

When did I say you are all in the wrong from modding? I have modded cars my whole life and have a R34 skyline with 350 kilowatts at the wheels and no warranty!

Why are you taking this so personaly are you that insecure? You Mod your car somthing goes wrong you wont be covered by Mitsubishi warranty for a lot of your cars problems simple mate.

It seems this conversation has gone in a big circle and looks like it wont come to an end... I see a lock in the future of this.

you dont know what you are talking about, so just stop. I made it very known in my last post exactly what ur saying that is stupid, and all you did was rephrase it.

My warranty is in tact, as will be yours. But please continue to crusade to save the ralliart owners from their own demise.

I think his issue was your blanket statements regarding warranty work which directly contradict many people's personal experiences and most manufacturer's official stance on the issue, that being that modifications can and do void their requirement to offer warranty work.
The only companies I know of that cover performance modifications are companies that sell performance modifications. GM had a line of upgrades you could buy for the Cobalt SS which was covered under warranty. However, they had to be installed at a dealership. Subaru has some upgrades but they're essentially cosmetic, same goes for Nissan and Mazda. Canadian Mitsubishi dealerships are a bit unusual in that they cover quite a bit. This is likely a result of them being the new brand in town and wanting to maintain a good customer base. Whether this will last is unclear. I suspect that they'll throttle back heavily in this regard now that the Evo is available in Canada. I already know of one person who was told their transmission issue was not going to be covered.
