Not if you pull the shift lever over to the left. That is how you keep the car from shifting for itself. The ONLY time it shifts in that situation is when you come to a stop it will go to 1st... but it is not 1stD It is 1st manual mode and you will have to shift up for yourself.

well i know it will down shift for you if you com to a stop and don't do it yourself.

I have only doen it ones not up shifting in time whn i was in first.
