cobb AP vs ecuflash

just curious what the differences are in the maps between the two

basically do both ways of tuning have access to the same parameters or is one able to tune and adjust things things the other can't

AFAIK, they both have the same "tunability" but I chose the Tactix 2.0 + ecuflash for a number of reasons:

- Price ($169 USD for Tactrix vs $595 USD for Cobb)
- Free GST Motorsports Tunes available
- Ability to use EvoScan

yea i gather the cable is cheaper, but that can't be the only differences... cause in that case i should be able to take the gst map and have the data and values from that made into a cobb map correct?

i'm basically on the fence with selling my AP and picking up the cable, simply because the base map is good untill you get an intake...

i assume evoscan is just a data logging program? AP has that built in...

They are not entirely the same map, but the tuning parameter can be different.
Cobb AP has preloaded maps for specific hardware setup for quick and easy ECU flash. But if you want to do more tweaking, use Cobb AT to create maps and loaded to Cobb AP, and then flash your ECU using Cobb AP.
You can also have multiple maps for different fuel setup on Cobb AP and flash the ECU on the fly, which means Cobb AP is a standalone device.
I am sure some of us here can chime in more on this topic.

I will agree that having a laptop with you to tune is a bit of a downfall for ECU Flash, but you have no difference in the ability to reflash on the fly. Just plug the Tactrix in and flash right there. I usually carry my laptop with me anyway, so it never made a difference to me. It's easy enough to modify maps.

And yeah, evoscan is a data logging program. It's $25 USD for the software.

Yeah, Robyn you can do everything that you can on ECU Flash on Cobb Access Tuner software. You download for free and you are good to go....well, you gotta know what your doing, but yeah.

well i applied to cobb for the free AT race program,

see what can be done.... in theory could all values from GST's v2 flash be input into the cobb AT race program and create a GST tune thats usable for all us AP users?

someone feel free to educate me a little

i fully assume it would be i won't be attempting this on my own,

if i can find someone in town who knows what they're doing or a tuner that wouldn't mind making the map on the AT race program from GST's ecuflash tables i'll definitly make sure its available for everyone... unless cobb makes a map using a boost pill and beats me to the punch lol

There are some tables I use that are currently not available in Cobb, racetuner nor protuner.

You could port most of them over but it's use at your own risk.

I'm totally opening to the community experimenting however.
