gst+sunroof

for all the people that are going to have the 2011 or have a after market sunroof your drag times will be a second higher, i have a gst tune 93 with boost pill and a sunroof, i had no back seats spare tire and no plastic crap under the hood or any water or anything and i was running 14.2 on 60 degree runs

Your jumping to conclusing pretty fast I think.

Was AC on? Did you deactivate ASC? How did you launch? Were you in automatic or manual? Were you in sport or normal?

The sunroof could add a little weight and maybe slightly increase your draft...

But adding 1 second to your quarter mile, it's almost non-sense.

If you're comparing to the time posted in GST Basemap thread, you should also validate if it was done using the Sedan or the Sportback. The Sportback is quite heavier than the sedan.

Do you have access to a dyno? Maybe your car does not deliver the power you would expect.

Did you log your car?

But:
From basic calculations ( sqrt(14.2/13.2) = 1.037.... ) The other car got an about 3% better acceleration than you, which is really close to the weight increase from the Sedan to the Sportback (1620 Kg / 1520 Kg = 1.31..... )

Add to that a small error margin due to the fact that two engine of the same model won't deliver exactly the same power and I think you got the reason why you do so slow.

Reaction time has nothing to do with your ET.

What was your 60ft and trapspeed.

The dealership told me that the sunroof adds 500 lbs on the car when I got mine.... Pretty crazy, but I don't know if it's true.

My equation was erronuous. I had put the Square root in the wrong side. So, if Sedan has a quarter mile of about 13.2, the Sportback should be somewhere close to 13.4. Sorry for the mislead.

i'm pretty sure there's something else happening here besides the sunroof causing your time. also, you cant compare your time to evootto's probably best time ever produced with only the boost pill and base map. look at the averages and you are about where you should be. drop the 60' time to 1.8xx and you'll be around 14 flat. in completely stock trim the car can run anywhere upwards of 14.7's so you're doing just fine, even with the added weight of the sunroof which is probably taking off 2-3 tenths at most. so if we want to keep talking theoretical pretend numbers, then 13.7 is a whole second below the stock average mid-14's which is huge for a boost pill and base map

When I was bone stock, I was running 14.2 @ 98 ... with the v1 GST 91 oct tune, I ran 13.8@99. 60' ~ 1.8 or 1.9 for both.

I find it's ALL in the launch. You can't go expecting a certain time. Practice your launch IMO. Ever drag race before? What launch method do you use?
