new turbo....no boost

Im having a bit of a problem.

So the ralliart was having a problem...turbo was not sounding correct..and not giving me any boost...took it to the dealership. They voided my warranrty...because of aftermarket computer software on the ECU...which i had no idea of and said turbo was blown. I had them replace the turbo..and switch me back to OEM software/settings on the ECU. they also found a 4" crack in the exhaust manifold and i had them weld that up too. So i just got the car back yesterday with a brand new turbo...and its running exactly like it was when i turned it in...im still not getting any boost...they say thats how it is supposed to run...but my n/a lancer i traded in for ran way quicker than the ralliart now lol. So im guessing the turbo wasnt even the issue to begin with. Anyone have any ideas? Im taking it to another dealership for a 2nd opinion. The turbo spool i can hear...it doesnt blow off in between gears (only when i let off the gas) and there isnt much to it at all. When it was running correctly it was much louder. Im feeling zero boost. Any ideas/opinions are appreciated.

Did you do a pressure test on the intake manifold side? Maybe something is leaking there. That would explain why you get almost no boost even tho your turbo spools.

Yes, if you bought it used, make sure all you Intercooler pipes are tight. Maybe the previous owner installed and aftermarket intercooler that he removed before selling/trading the car and didn't care to make sure everything was tight.

They are seperate part number, so they are ordered seperately.

And they would have to be looking to this in particular to be aware of it.

I don't know the impact of a boost pill on a stock image but by what I have read on the GST Basemap thread, it should cause overboost, not under boost... But I might be wrong.

Anyway, I'd return to stock pill as soon as possible and would not try anything else before that.

Well thats a big problem having a boost pill in there with no tune for it.. you will over boost and go into limp mode.. It could be one of your problems.. Also, you will not hear the BPV after gear change, our cars will only do that when you let off the throttle, so thats normal.

I would be pissed at the previous owner of the car for not telling me any of this when i bought it, because it sounds like he sold you a busted *** car and has now ****ed you over with all the future problems that will arise.

Good luck, sounds like you will need it.

Im pretty sure the previous owner was on here, the cf hood with the evo front looks like a former members car. He at the time had an Evo X swap in the car.

Can't remember his username for the life of me though.

Dang what a bum deal. How much was all of that? Like another posted, the BPV only makes noise when letting off the gas. Occassionally I thinlk I hear some noise in between shifts or if i use manual mode. Def get the boost pill out for the stock one or get a tune for the ecu.

well im going to go get the OEM boost pill ordered today at the dealership and going to switch them out.if engine goes into limp mode will it come out when the boost is normal? or will they have to manually take it out of limp mode? The dealership had the car for a month and gave it back "fixed" and it runs the same...i was suprised they told me everythign was fine...but now I can see how a little pill would be something easily overlooked. im going to try to keep the car out of boost until i get this figured out...they dont do boost leak tests at the dealerships either for future reference for everyone

the new turbo and installation was over 3000...but the dealership I bought it from paid for it and my factory warranty is now restricted..basically if i have a problem with the drivetrain they will have to contact a district rep before any repairs can be made under warranty...which basically it is voided lol.

Thats good man, you might want to talk to the previous owner about hanging you out there to dry. That car was an Evo x turbo swap car, so it makes sense why you are having issues if some of the parts werent put back, ie boost pill, exhaust manifold

well there was a crack in the exhaust manifold that the dealer found,,,and repaired. Does anyone know what the part numbers are for the hose that contains the boost pill and the boost pill itself..I want to revert back to stock ASAP and the parts people didnt know wtf i was talking about. im weary of getting a tune...because if i get it then something bad happens my warranty is shot again. Ill check over all the IC piping more tonite...it looks like it might be slipping on the one that goes to the IC. Also if this means anything...the car pulls a little bit harder in automatic mode in normal...wierd...but not hard at all...it doesnt even pull in manual mode...just spools up and blows off when i left off gas...no boost is felt.

You bought it from a dealership? When they sold it to you they probably insisted on the fact that there was X number of years of warranty left? If so, you should bring a layer in this story because they void the warranty for something you didn't do to a car your bought from a dealer. Unless the dealer wasn't mitsubishi?
