Good Idea or Bad? My little Project

Okay,

So after much reading and seeing other RA builds I've come up with a delightful Project and was looking for some feedback onto whats a good idea or not.

So I'm going to build my RA like this:

-Injen Cold Air Intake (done)

-EVO X Turbo swap (do I need the EVO X manifold?)

-EVO X UICP and LICP

-EVO X Intercooler

-UR catback exhaust ( Might opt for a slightly different turbo back build which includes welding the Cat into my Test pipe..or something of the sort was talking with a friend and he said he knows a "more legal" way of making a turbo back)

-A Boost pill (suggestions welcome because I haven't found much talk about them)

To finish I'm going to get it all Dyno'd and tuned by Magnus Auto.

Feedback Please!

Im pretty sure the rule is if you install an intake a tune is necessary immediately

I was told that it wasn't mandatory but to get the full HP out of it it requires a tune. This is what my Dealership said before installing it.

I have read with the injen you have a chance of being okay maybe.... but I believe every single thing I have read about this says if your getting an intake you have to get it tuned!

Hmmm Interesting am I risking damage to my engine? Cause I will just put the OEM one on till I get a tune if that's the case...I mean I haven't noticed any problems. Only thing I have noticed is slight black carbon build ups on my exhaust.

YOU NEED A TUNE! Bottom line. You will have problems, Don't go with what the Stealership told you, go with what people have tried and had bad problems after! Someone did it at my Dealer and he had to pay for a brand new engine...

Welding your catalytic converter into your test pipe? What would be the difference? Just buy a high-flow cat.

Fair enough, on all accounts...just looks like I'll rip my Injen Intake out tommorrow and put the OEM back in until I get the rest of my list then install it all at once... Thanks for the heads up hope I didn't hurt my Car by having it on...I've had it for maybe 10,000 km Anyone got ideas for the Boost pill? and what kinda boost increase can I expect from the EVO X Turbo with boost pill?

Go and have a dyno run to see what your AFR's are. If they're ok then don't get a tune yet, if they're bad then either get a tune or refit stock airbox.

oh no not the dreaded tune no tune talk again, there is like a thousand threads on this and someone starts a war about it and everyone seems to have there opinions or just know they are right on the issue, as it stands yes you need a tune if you run a cone filter, however injen states when you buy there cai for the ralliart it is specifically tuned for your vehicle at stock and is fine to be ran without tune, that being said i have one on my car and from personal experience the car is fine and it has been on for almost 3k miles no issues whatsoever. so before you go through the hassle of tearing it out again, just do realize you spent the money on this product and it states it is specific to the car, requires no tune, and is safe for the car. Personal opinion leave it on there its what i did, i just would take it off or get a tune done if you do anything beyond it because of F/A ratios being off and other problems that could occure from...well i guess to much air lol until its retuned and if you X swap it wont fit anyways

If you are still getting carbon build up on zurst that means you are still running rich (safe) so no need to retune straight away. Boost pill, depends on how good your tuner is, If they're good they'll remove the stock one and not replace it.

-AMS or GST both have boost pills, they are basically identical and will achieve the same thing.
-You will need the evo X manifold, all the parts necessary for the swap are located in the Evo X turbo Swap thread.
-Plan for a tune immediately after you install all of this, I would suggest picking somewhere you can physically go rather than a mail tune.
-You only need X FMIC and UICP and BOV piping to make it all work, you will not need the LICP if you don't want to.
-You will need a different intake coupler to go from the intake to the X turbo.
-If you need to pass emmissions test then go with the HFC, otherwise a testpipe will be fine unless you are environmentally concious then get a HFC.
