It's not like EvoScan is expensive. $25. And free upgrades for life... I mean seriously, it cost more money to fill your tank of gas...

Hi Rich, I just went through and read your guide in the first post(s). I was tossing up between Cobb Accessport or Tactrix, I know what to buy now. Sincere thanks for your efforts.
Being daily driver, my RA is averaging 12-13 l/100km, and running very rich, so I think this should be a priority of mine, instead of trying to source custom floor mats or scuff/sill plates and whatnot...

Out of curiosity have you tried running 95 octane fuel on the USDM 91 oct maps? While the car out of the factory supposedly requires 98, surely with the appropriate tune it should run fine on 95 right?
Hi, hope posting here is appropriate. Just received my Tactrix in the post (woot) and have a question before i start. Merlin's guide recommends removing pin #9 but i haven't read any other mention of this. Can someone confirm either way before i get the pliers out, or fry the ecu
Cheers

In Bryan's Base Maps, there aren't any Aussie RA ROM "alternate fuel" versions. The ADM/EDM Base Maps only come in "98RON" tunes.
But I bet you worked that out way back in March!

It seems I'm still subscribed to this thread, so got a flurry of emails regarding replies...
As is my usual, when I get into something I go overboard - so I've delved deep into the knowledge pool of ECU tuning, far beyond just downloading and flashing the GST basemaps...
Having had a look at the USDM vs AUDM/EDM various basemaps, and I see the USDM 93 and our AUDM/EDM 98OCT are the same when it comes to spark timing and fuel, so extrapolated that USDM 91 tune would be suited for our 95OCT.
I'm currently running 95 octane with no ill effects. I'm self tuned, based off the GST maps but I've set back some of the stock tune's EGR settings, and dialed in MIVEC induction a bit more advanced at lower engine loads, and conversely a little more exhaust retard to accomodate the recirculated exhaust gasses...
90% of my driving time is spent in bumper to bumper peak hour traffic, half of which is at idle - so I've tuned for economy first and foremost - not what most people have their RA setup... but loving the fact that ECUflash and the Tactrix interface enables me to do so!
I might even try a tune for 91 octane or E10 in future - if for nothing more than the academic exercise.

O2 Sensor
It looks like the GST basemap v3.0 does not disable the rear O2 sensor - default value in DTC P0139 is 01 instead of 00 and ECU Option Set 2 bit 1 enable rear O2 sensor is 01.
So if I want to disable the O2 sensor (for emissions testing reasons) I should set both those values to 0, is that right?
Thanks,
V.
EDIT: Just flashed my car to GST Basemap v3.0 Stock Pill (while waiting for my boost pill to arrive).
So... what's the best way to turn off the service engine light?
I hear that older versions of ECUFlash can turn off the SES light, but I'm using 1.43 and there's no option. I tried using an older version (1.42) but it hasn't worked for me since I upgraded to 1.43 - will not recognize tactrix cable. I've tried uninstalling 1.43 and installing 1.42, but it still doesn't work - I think it's got to do with the newer drivers that came with 1.43, will try uninstalling the drivers later.
Also tried clearing the DTCs in EvoScan 2,9 (yes, I know 2.9 sucks, but that's what Limitless sent me when I ordered Evoscan from them).
Definitely noticed better throttle response and more midrange power with the GST basemap, and the MIVEC is kicking in a lot earlier. Can't wait for my boost pill to arrive!

The GST Base Map doesn't disable the rear O2 sensor circuit because to do so can damage the sensor if it is left in position... ie. in hot exhaust gas without the internal sensor heater operating.
If you want to disable it, the relevant ECU Options bit is the one to flick.

I've stuck with the older EcuFlash to avoid this kind of hassle!

Disable the rear O2 sensor for emissions testing? Not sure what you mean.

Won't have to take an emissions test for at least a year, can always flash back to stock if I have to.
Hmm, I would have thought EvoScan would have been able to clear the "flash" related DTC stuff.

.Definitely some voodoo going on here.
Thanks again for all your help and advice in these forums!
Yep, the "flash related" check-engine light will in fact go off again after a couple of starts.
IIRC, it's just something like a network-comms-failure error, due to the ECU being AWOL while it's busy talking to EcuFlash.

This, looks awesome, I cannot wait to tune my ralliart
Did anyone else buy the innovate wideband kit with the open port? Also from what I gather, I will be able to change turbo, injectors and fuel type with this programme too?
