Ralliart (AUS) ECU Stuff For Dummies
#106
Wish me luck everyone
About to attempt the steps for my 2011 Lancer Ralliart. Seems simple enough to follow instructions (Richard seems to have spelt it out well for dummies like me).
Hardest step I think is to obtain the correct definition file?

Hi. For 2011, you should be fine. It seems goldenevo.com is up and running at present, so you can download an XML from there, if your EcuFlash doesn't have one.

Ok, Im stuck, I can read from my ecu but then I get the "Unknown Rom Image" message. I have downloaded the 2009 files from golden evo and placed them in my lance metadata folder but this is still happening. I reset ecuflash and reloaded etc but still the same error?
Any help is appreciated

Sorry, forgot to mention, I have tried to determine my ecu rom ID but when I upload it to Golden EVO it gives me FFFffff which I assume is an error. Ive tried opening the file in a hex editor to find the ID but it just has a lot of wingdings and odd characters.

Ok So I think my ECU ID is 53600017 based on following the instructions here http://www.evoxforums.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=174082
I tried downloading the 53600010 definitions, opening modifying the ID and saving but it still wont read my backup rom??

I had the same issue with my 2014. I selected the third option, use Wizard to create a definition file. Select that option and press Next.
Next box is the Setup ROM box. The third option is "Inherited from the definition below". Pick that third option the hit the drop down and find the closest (best) match to your car. For me it was the 2013 definition file. If you have the right def files placed in the appropriate folder, you should find your match here. If not, pick the closest match.
This isn't doing anything but giving ECU Flash a map to read your file. If you pick the wrong one, it won't hurt anything, it just wont be valid. If it does match up, it should show you the ROM ID and then you should be all set.

That did the trick! All backed up, verified and reflashed to stock pill base map while I wait for my upgraded pill to arrive this week.
As a heads up to others, the ROM ID I mentioned above is the ECU reflash recall that the dealership performed- so as echo4papa said, reference a similar definition (I chose 53600010) when selecting "use the wizard". This unlocked the features in EcuFlash such as compare ECU ROM and write ROM to ecu.
Thanks a ton fellas...definitely feels like it pulls better and now I'm super excited for the next step!

I found out that my car is running the 55590011 ROM by using Open ECU. From doing some research, I've found that this ROM enables the flash counter on the ECU, and there are no definitions for it on the goldenevo site.
Has anyone had any luck flashing a GST basemap to this rom? I'd rather err on the safe side than brick my ECU.

Has anyone successfully flashed 2011 GST AU/EU roms to later ECUs? My 2013 rom ID 56950008 has a closest match of 56950006, which is 2011.

I've just received a copy of a 2012 AUS/EDM Ralliart ROM. Its ROM ID of 56950008 means that owners of these vehicles should be able to use the 2011 AUS/EDM Base Map (ROM ID 56950006).
We've found that ROM IDs with the same first 4 digits are happily interchangeable.
