warranty
Not to mention your claim of dealers not denying warranty for things completely unrelated. i had my dealer deny working on my car because they key-less entry wouldn't work. Why? Because I had installed an aftermarket headunit and they claimed that was the issue (it was simply connected using a metra wiring harness, so obviously that was bull****). Maybe your dealer is nice, but not everyone's is. Simply put, unless you KNOW the dealer is mod-friendly, its best to revert the car back to stock so they don't pull some bull****. Sure the MMWA is supposed to prevent this issue, but dealers will still try.
wrong. Sadly instead of being informed, you allowed the dealership to walk all over you.
They legally need to prove that the deck is causing the issue, and not being able to cannot refuse a warranty claim.
If you have such troubles at the dealer level, which isnt uncommon as they only see $$ and dont really give 2 ****s, you need to call Mitsubishi USA or CAN customer service and or warranty info lines and discuss the matter. At that point the matter is taken well above the stealerships heads and is often resolved quickly.
It never hurts to hit up google, or the site asking for help on legitimate issues.

well then you need to go outside of the region as it appears there is an issue with mitsu and its structure where you reside.
There are american laws that prevent their ability to do such things. Being canadian i dont feel the need to find the particular articles, but im sure a quick google search will yield results.
At anyrate a stealership learns these bull**** moves when they are able to use them effectively. Its up to us as consumers to use the system given to us properly to prevent it. The simple fact they are trying to argue a directly installed stereo has anything to do with programming remotes for the doors looks is silly enough it should make anyone who knows anything about cars suspious. It saddens me that your region seems to lack intelligent people employed by mitsubishi.

Sadly, yes. And try as I may, they refused to touch it. When I told the tech to go get the wiring diagram and i would show him just how separate the systems were. the service manager told me to leave and that I was no longer welcome at the dealer. I go "so your denying my warranty claim?" The factory rep chimed in and said "No, you can make you claim, just not at this dealer. And the car has to be returned to stock before any other dealer will touch it as I will be noting in your Mitsubishi customer account."
I traded the car in to that same dealer about 3 weeks ago. I bet the service guys were pissed when they saw it roll back there to have the stock exhaust stuff put back on.

zx, there is a tremendous difference between the map you are running, and the stock one. Im sure razorlab would be happy to post the fuel charts for both to show the amounts.
The big reasons that diy or aftermarket intakes can negatively affect afr are simple, The size of the maf housing, tricking the maf into not accounting for certain flow (injen), and the total amount of air being taken in.

As for the MAF housing, you are right on everything except that the MAF housing we take from the EVO X is practically the same diameter as the Ralliart one. Thus it leads to about the same reading. The difference is so small that it doesn't leads to a significant drop in the AFR.
So, yes you are right but not in this specific case. Almost ALL other aftermarket intake come with a larger O2 housing but not this one.
To everyone else, please note that this custom intake is safe ONLY if the diameter of the O2 housing is the same as your stock housing. So before installing it, measure your stuff, I did it for the '09 ralliart but not for the newer versions.
Seriously, ease up on the man. Who in the hell made you judge and jury on every mod, and why do you care so much about what happens to his car? He's not asking you to repair it or anything.
If you are so hot about the $70 SRI not working properly, why don't you take some of your time and log it on your car, and present a report in the appropriate thread showing key points where you see dangerous AFRs. You keep bullying people to prove to you that the SRI works, why don't you prove that it doesn't work? Until then just shut up and let him mod his car the way he wants.

My car is less than a month old, and I have the Cobb AP installed and the DC Sports cat back exhaust on order. Many other mods are also planned, I guess I will see what if any hassle I am given by my dealer.
OP: ASK YOUR DEALERSHIP! If you need to find one that is cool with modifications, PM someone down your way. There are more Lancers down there than almost anywhere else. They will know. There are at least two sites that specifically deal with Mitsubishi's down in Miami.
And Westbound, I sympathize with your position. It is very off-putting to deal with the same 5 questions over and over. And, make no mistake, this question is definitely one of the 5.
1). Is my warranty going to be affected by X modification?
2). I paid X for my car. Did I get a good deal?
3). Which exhaust system should I get?
4). How do I get 300/300 with my RA?
5). My car exploded, what should I do?

To EyeDreamt, ZX, and RalliMark:
Westbound is irritated, because this topic has been beaten to death. This is not a question that we can answer, but yet you all continue to stir the pot. It isn't your fault.

Before u start calling people idiots maybe you should do some research. I didnt install the DIY intake you MORON I bought it that way. Thats why I made sure my warranty would not be voided with those mods on it when I bought it from the dealer because I knew that. My AFR is in the 11s with the DYI intake on it so why do I need a TUNE?
ill tone down though, just for you guys
This is not up for debate. He is right about this. They can be dangerous.
Yup dealers saying the drive lug is bad which had nothing to do with the mods on the car and Mitsubishi is fixing it. Yeah it kinda hit a nerve when dude started bashing me without knowing anything about my situation or if I even had a tune done with my mods. Your right I should have been a bigger person and not said anything back.
