Need a New Battery. Warranty?

Looks like my 4 1/2 yr old battery is toast. The original. Anyone ever get this replaced under warranty or is it a consumable item? I'll probably get a DieHard if it is not.

It's a consumable item...
But, that doesn't mean you can't ask nicely and see what they can do.

(The worse case would be they offer you a used battery as a replacement. Better than nothing..)

My battery in my 11 died a long time ago. I'm also going to say that not only is a battery not under warranty (as you mentioned, it is by design consumable), but 4 1/2 years out of the OEM battery isn't bad.

True dat. Might throw a DieHard in it or maybe the much cheaper Everstart from WallyMart

i've been lucky - Evo on original battery - 7 years old. wife's original Forester battery was 9 years old when we traded it in.

i hope the OS one lasts at least 5 years ....

It really depends on how well the battery is "protected"/isolated from the temperature swings.

The OEM battery in our 330i (located in the truck) lasted 7 1/2 years. The dropoff was steep, there was no warning/signs of it failing until it just decided to up and die one day.

So, I'd say expect our O.Sport battery to last about ~3-4 (5 years tops), since it's right there next to the hot engine bay.

Don't worry - we Canucks know a thing about batteries. And it is funny how some last and last and others barely make it to warranty end if at all.
