its not absolutly nessicery so don't make it your first buy, the manual does say not to shut the car off right after driving the car "aggressively" or something like that been awhile since i read it

i have a timer on my car, as i have issues sometimes waking up in time for work lol so speeding to work and just jumping out after triggering the timer is kind of nice, and it doubles as a digital voltage gauge

its a nice to have not a need to have purchase

it's really not a necessary mod at all. like robyn said, unless you plan on racing around and then stopping and shutting the car off immediately, you'll be fine without one.

realistically, all the car usually needs is around 30 seconds of idling for a safe shutoff, so if you're rushing to wherever you're going, just dont turn the car off until youve got your seatbelt off and your **** together from the back or trunk and you're ready to go. at that point, it'll probably have been about 30 seconds anyway.

worst case scenario, when you turn the car off and the car is still hotter than the computer system would like it to be, the cooling fans will continue to run for awhile even after the car is shut down and you have walked away. not ideal since there's no circulation of fluids, just air, but i've only had even that happen to me once and that was after a long drive in 90* temps, parking the car and shutting off for a couple minutes of heat soak, re-starting and moving to a different parking space, and shutting down again.

it's safe to turn it off as long as the oil temp isn't over ~90*C or so. I've got an oil temp gauge in my IX MR, and I use that as a guide. I've got a turbo timer as well. my temps never usually get high enough to need it, but it's good to use to let the car warm up in the morning. if you live in a really hot climate, it's a good thing to have in the summer time because it takes a few minutes for the temps to drop to a safe shutoff level, even under normal driving.

The only time youd ever need it is if you had been pounding on it racing, but you should know to sit there anyways.
that's the point of the turbo timer. so the car can sit there without you in it. so you just contradicted your own statement...again.

good job.

I seem to recall having read that the cooling system in this newest generation is state of the art. After the car is shut off, coolant and oil continue to circulate until some preset temp is reached?
I was wondering about this same thing the other night; I turned off my car, popped the hood to take a look at the HID adjustment hole, and noticed I could hear a faint electronic hum from the block of all places. I put my ear closer and it sounded like something electronic was running, sorta behind the fuel rails, but to be honest it had me baffled. Would this be the modern cooling system I thought I had read about a while back??
