Turbo Timer - Good/Bad Idea??

Good idea or bad idea to install a turbo timer on the new EVO??? Fairly new car, but I don't think a turbo timer might do harm to it if installed properly... lemme know what you guys think...

I would highly recommend putting in a turbo timer. It allows you to cool the turbo down without having to sit there. The turbo timers are available with all different features including boost gauges, air fuel gauges, and more. We have plenty of stock and will be putting one in our car this week. Hit us up!

Hi,

Just to add a little balance to the discussion, a Turbo Timer is an excellent accessory, however, they are not mandatory based upon my experience.

When I upgraded my stock 14b (114,000 miles) last year there was some coking (cooked oil) but not excessive. The car had not been abused nor driven hard and put up wet and there was never a turbo timer on the car.

Just use a little common sense and let the engine cooldown after a sustained run at high speed (expressway) and very spirited driving followed by a quick engine off. You do not need the cooldown after a routine trip to Wal-mart.

It you have used them and like the results ... great. If your not sure and want the "comfort" of a turbo timer.. great. But new turbo drivers should not consider a turbo timer a necessity. I have no plans to add one on my new EVO.
