SST Clutches

Does anyone know what the max hp/tq would be for the stock SST clutches?

If I keep it under 400hp/400tq but close to (approx. 365hp/385tq), should that be fine? It will still be daily driver, not tracking, maybe 1/4 mile from time to time.

Curious if anyone is running approx. the same power on the stock clutches.

Thanks!

I would think that is pushing it a bit with the torque number. Your tuner will surely need the ability to tweak a few torque tables, otherwise you will not have a happy SST.

I'd be more worried about your stock block then your SST with that torque

How did you come up with those numbers???

It's a big step from the stock ~192 HP.

I dyno'd at 205whp stock...

I recently did a few small mods and I'm running 248whp.

I have some big plans for this summer that's why I was checking the numbers. What I posted above refers to hp/tq at the crank.

I'm assuming I'll have about 320-330whp/340-345wtq. These numbers aren't safe? I thought there are a few people running well over 300 whp/wtq here...

Was it on a Mustang or Dynojet?

320-330 WHP should be safe. But you should go to a reputable tuner. The SST requires a little bit more knowledge and car than other transmissions and it's so expensive to maintain and/or replace that it's better to drive a little more and pay a little more to have to job well done.

Just to let you know, common practice is to talk about HP and Torque at the wheels unless specified. There is no easy way to get a precise measure at the crank. And anyway, crank power does not allow any reasonable comparison between two cars due to the difference between tranmission efficiency.

Thanks for the advice I will only refer to whp/wtq from now on. I guess it makes a lot more sense.

It was on a Dynojet...could be why it was a little higher (since someone referenced 192).

I mean I'm only assuming I'll hit 320whp/330wtq with what I want to do. It's a guess and I just wanted to make sure that if I did, the SST was okay.

Thanks for the help everyone!

Ok, yes, 205 on Dynojet is normal.

Are you expecting to stay with the stock turbo? If so, I doubt you'll achieve more than 280-290 WHP.

Did you try the GST basemap yet? If you didn't and you ever come around Gatineau. Bring me a (few) (s) and I'll flash it on your car. It gives you something to start with.

Haha! I actually do have the boost pill + GST 93 oct flash plus a few other mods w/adjustment to the tune.

I'm planning on doing the CBRD turbo upgrade + UR FMIC, UR piping, UR turboback, AMS CAI/Small battery, AMS Transmission cooler, Bosch injectors, fuel pump/filter.

I don't know if I'll hit my goal of 320whp but it will be at least over 300 and that's why I wanted to verify for the clutches.

Maybe once I'm all set up, we'll meet up at a 1/4 drag somewhere between MTL and Gatineau!

Then 300 WHP should not be too much problem. Just make sure you tuner keeps torque around 300 WTQ and you should be safe From what I understand, the real ennemy is actually torque, not HP.

I talked to a few guys who are running 350wtq and are doing fine...

It seems the easiest way to go about things is to just do an EvoX swap with a tune. It works out to a lot cheaper and yields the 300+whp/wtq I'm looking for.
