tuning with seperate ecu

Just wanted to know if there's any way that buying a difference ecu and putting a tune on it would be detected if i switch back to the original ecu, for any warranty purpose.is there any data store on acd ecu or tranny ecu.

That's a legit reason to deny fixing a MAF sensor.

Your better off getting a switchable map (AP or Tactrix) than pulling the ECU. If I remember correctly some ECUs have markings to detect if they have been physically tampered with.

BTW: the Edit button works on these forums, not sure if your used to forums where it doesn't work.

i knew they wouldn't cover the maf sensor.but with some begging they did.but as far as the ecu, i was thinking on just laying it on top of the stock ecu.i do have a tactrix cable but can they find out that it's been tune if i switch back to stock map.

They are going to find the 2 ECUs before they find a different map.

I Agree with DaJackson... your way better off getting a tactrix cable to flash back to stock when you need too.

A second ecu is not practical as I'm fairly sure it has to be coded by the dealer to work in a particular vehicle... we don't have immobilizer code in the ecu rom any longer but I have to imagine that there is some anti theft mechanism that requires the ecu to be coded to the rest of the control modules in the car.
