as you can tell with NFS's BBK thread, production for new, quality parts takes time. Johnny@JTran Studios spent a good few weeks alone just finding a good, reasonably priced supplier for the metal

I'm as anxious as everybody else - I'm sick of the stock RA turbo, AMS Intake, and P050B CEL

I am just happy to see parts being made for the RA :-) I thought I would check in and see since it is a great location for the battery I don't mind the battery being on it's side where the original one is but your solution not only helps with the swap it also helps when you have to change the transmission fluid on the sst it gives easier access to the fill hole.

f-ing awesome...

My gauges didn't turn on one time yesterday, and I've always had a weird whining beep since I got gauges installed - learned that it might be a bad ground. When I went back to my car they worked, so I guess it was just a weird happening

now today after work - press the FAST key to get in, LCD in the gauge cluster is working. Crank - dead battery....

open the hood and find acid on the positive terminal, and dried liquid along the top of the battery

awesome...a faulty battery. and I can't find any numbers to call Genesis, and AMS is closed. great start to this weekend........

talk about luck....sighhhhh (though this might have been causing my P050B CEL??, I guess that's good news)

That's why my Genesis is in the garage for "back up" and I'm using the Braille 2015 now. I like it's posts better too.

Not to mention that the "Braille" battery is much easier to locate in the engine bay if you happen to lose your vision......

now that this is on my mind...

I do notice I get shocked literally every time I get out of my car and my hand touches the door...........

gauges really are hooked up to a bad ground maybe? or the battery?

I'll see if I can swap out the small battery that's being used to build this prototype bracket for now. If it's been sent off to the drafter, then I guess I'll just have to go buy a new one locally - don't know if I want to jump off ship from Genesis from one bad experience. Bryan@GST has still had a long and good history with using them

but definitely not counting on AMS to be any help at all on this

the more I think about it, I think it was AMS's fault - I don't think they even touched my small battery. The website claims they will come with the posts already torqued, but I'm starting to think they didn't

1. The box I received my AMS parts had "bathroom" written along the side
2. No AMS cover branding on the top - only reason I can think of them not putting it on is that they never even touched my small battery. If they torqued the posts, they surely would have remembered to slap on their "AMS" cover
3. Since the website says they're pre-torqued to spec when shipped, so my tuner and I just followed the instructions carefully

sent an email, but I doubt they are that thorough with their documentation on packaging/shipping and will deny responsibility. Whatever, moving on - I have no plans to keep my AMS parts once this bracket and turbo kit is done.

got the battery replaced with the second I was using the build this bracket - definitely looks like the posts weren't tq'd

but good news, since I was there I got more details. My tuner will be meeting with the production guys monday and should have a prototype made in a few days after that. Also, this bracket will REPLACE the old ECU bracket. I could go into more details, but I think once I have pictures it will explain itself

this is taking longer because the first person we found to draft the design had no production, and we wanted someone who could do both - so it was just wasted time. second, we had to find new metal because the standard bracket is way too thin/weak to hold a small battery

and unfortunately learned that my model might cost in the $250 range, mainly because of the cost to setup the production of it. Oh well, the sacrifices you make to produce something. At least it looks like it's coming together soon!

Hi Exyia, put me down as interested in this bracket if it pans out. It's the last missing piece in my engine puzzle. All the best with it!

sorry I don't have the prototype yet

though it does seem like there's enough interest that I might sell a few. Not finalized on price yet, but Johnny@JTran says if we can get 10 solid deposits (just $100 each), expect a total price of 280+free shipping+included battery.

we're still looking into whether we want to bother including the batteries or just sell the bracket themselves. after my faulty battery experience, I much rather have preferred to have a local battery shop to deal with, so we'll see how that turns out

and please don't pm about deposits now. I won't bother starting a list until a prototype is on my car so we know it's closer to production, and so people can get a real idea of what they're getting. expect a formal announcement thread when that time comes

anyway, thank you guys for showing your interest! waiting for this single part to be done is the hardest part, as I have a whole slew of parts waiting for my build - full OEM X turbo swap, ETS UICP/FMIC/LICP, Synchronic DV, ETS HFC, coilovers, and eventually upgraded turbo - it just needs this damn battery out of the way!

I think just the bracket would be great since some of us have small batteries and this would allow us to use whatever battery we can find local.. My current battery dimensions are 6.8” x 3.4” x 6.1" :-) Thanks for all your work on this put me down on the list when you are ready for sure.

this bracket is being designed off of a Genesis 16EP and fitment (as you can tell from the drafts) is looking damn near perfect - but that might limit your choices as what you can personally use. If you don't have one yet, small batteries are deceptively heavy - and that was a factor for making this bracket - it needed to not only hold it, but hold it tight and secure. The regular ECU bracket's metal was deemed way too thin/weak to attach a small battery bracket to, so this will be a full replacement.

I debated trying a different brand of small battery as I've heard mixed things about Genesis, but Bryan has a strong/long-term opinion on them, so I won't jump ship off of one bad experience
