09 RA engine noise ??


I have notice a lot of different ticking and clicking noises under the hood now... and also a slight dull tapping aswell...


any clue was going on? i can only here them if i have the hood open and i can here the dull tapping outside of the car too on cold starts...

 

Read you manual bro its all in there.

Most of this is due to the pumps starting and the "Diffs" locking and unlocking when you start the car.

 

I try to avoid listening to my engine at idle, it always sounds like its about to blow up. I know its all normal noises, but it scares the crap out me sometimes.

 

^ same with me. I hear this clunking noise on the right side of my engine; between the engine and tranny area.

It ****' me off! sounds like its low on tranny fluid or something...

 

Its a ralliart thing...

Sounds bad but it's normal.

 

Yup normal noise from the SST.

At idle the SST clutches rattle, that is a lot of the "tapping" sound you will hear.

Seriously tho, you should write a book, or at least an informative manual with pics as you take apart and then reassemble the SST...blind folded!!

ENGINE NOISES not sst tran noises.....

 

The dull tapping is from the SST clutches. That is the loudest part. SST is in the engine bay with your motor on the exact same horizontal plane, just FYI.

The super sharp tiny tapping is from the fuel injectors.

 

Yep, my guess is injectors. Lifters have a cold tick also. And don't forget the ABS/relay systems check at key-on as well.

 

dull tapping form the sst is there but i hear another one form the motor...

i know the injectors... but is the valve train suppose to be as loud as the injectors?
