So the car is still at the dealer. They are going to replace the outside linkage sensor. They said if that doesn't work they will replace the whole transmission. They said it is common for the sensors in the SST get warped in hot weather over a period of time.

Interesting, I had never heard of that issue before.

Best of luck, and please let us know how it goes.

You better leave the code there if it stays. Don't reset it.
Bring it to the dealer. You don't want to mess around when the cost could be a replacement transmission.

If it ever skips gears than you better bring it to the dealer immediately. It took me several times to get them to replace my transmission. I kept resetting the code and taking it to the dealer. The code would be intermittent and only come up when I'm not going to the dealership.

For what it's worth, the service manager at my local dealer advised me to take a picture of any critical warnings that come up on the dash. He said it helped with presenting the case to head office for a new tranny.

Why would you clear the code without reading it first?

I agree. It's best to take it to the dealer at the first instance of a code. That way it is in there records. If they clear it and it comes back, they will have paper trail of the issue happening twice.
