SST service

Alright so I have been trying to get as much knowledge as possible about my car and the service required to make it run well. I have a 2010 Ralliart Sportback with 89000 miles and I have been looking into change the fluid in the transmission. My dealer will do the service for $230 including the fluid and filter. Do you guys think I should trust them and go through with it.

I thought the same thing. They gave me a quote with 8L diaqueen sstf-1 and a filter with labor. The are going to drain and refill. The quote also states that it is guaranteed. If they put the wrong fluid in I will have a new transmission because of it.

Not saying I don't agree but worst case they mess it up and have to replace it right? Or am I missing something.

I would hope they would replace it. I would get that in writing.

I think you better make sure they know it has an SST transmission not a CVT. That's the same thing that happened to me, they quoted me a fluid change for a CVT model(they thought I had a regular lancer).
If you know the price is too low, then question them on that, yah, be great to get an sst fluid change for that price, but it's not worth the potential hassle.

Got a call from them today. Service manager had no idea what he was talking about. I guess it is good I gave them part numbers to show that they didn't know what they were talking about. Thanks for the input guys much appreciated.

trans

I went to the dealer yesterday to have it done. First quote was $175.00 for transmission service. Then they changed it to $465.00 saying they thought I had a regular lancer.

Better make sure they're using the proper SST fluid instead of CVT fluid

Moral: Don't trust dealerships. I argued (and lost, apparently) that there really IS a Lancer Ralliart Sportback. SMH

Yeah, the Dealer once argued with me that my Ralliart was actually front-wheel-drive rather than all-wheel-drive.....

I just ask them to bent over and look for the rear differential.

A good Evo shop will do it for half the price of the dealership! Keep in mind, the fluid itself is over $100 retail.

Turns out dealerships are stupid. Thought my car had a CVT. I ended up getting the fluid and filter from MAP. Dealership did change it for only $50 so I didn't do too bad.

I love doing my own work... but moving from a house to an apartment post divorce I dont really wan to take up the entire driveway for an afternoon.

If I can find a shop around here that will do it for $50 then it's worth it not to have to roll around the driveway under the car LOL. I'll ask around some of the local places. Good to know.
