CP-E downpipe require a tune?
You will feel more gains from a test pipe than the downpipe. I have both pipes installed from Ultimate Racing. I am not tuned for the exhaust, just running the GST v2.5 map. Sounds and pulls great.
No tune needed. Not really much (if any) gain to be seen with a downpipe without other mods.
Not just you personally, but what is everyone's obsession with installing downpipes on otherwise stock or "stock-ish" cars when there are so many other more beneficial ways of spending your money?

Well, not everyone. I don't obsess over installing downpipes.
But maybe I COULD slap a really nice one on just for fun. Lots of sensor-fitting locations. Wrap it in expensive thermal protection. No - polish it until it shines. Or chrome plate it! Yesss, chrome. Or gold!... So shiny... Yess..... MY PRECIOUS!

Like with the VW/Audi turbo models, the cat is attached right off of the outlet from the exhaust turbine, so replacing the DP instantly eliminates the cat and improves spool up response.
Alternately, some models had crappy downpipe design (crush bends from the factory!) or, like on the old Supras (MK2), just swapping the dp made an incredible difference in boost response, even though there were no cats in the way.
I think on the old WRX, going to a bellmouth dp made several hundred rpm difference in spoolup but it's been a long time since I read up on that when I was considering buying one, back in the bugeye days.
