Magnaflow 2" Piece

Did anyone else notice right after the cat, the 3" Magnaflow cat-back has a 1/2" long 2" section???

I'm curious if this is restricting anything in regards to flow? I'm planning on having it cut out and welded a 3" piece in there.

Curious if anyone did the above and had it modified...

I noticed, but I dont think it's that restrictive. If you want to do for sake of consistency (3in all the way) do it!

At least I dont think it will change all that much in the range of power the RA can handle.

That has been an "issue" (complaint) since the evo 8 came out too.

It's the 3" catback exhaust system that tapers down at the neck where it connects to the cat.
Most of the time the Cat opening is 2"-2.5" and that's why the pipe tapers there in order to not have a leak at that flange.

My thermal R&D catback on my evo 8 had that taper too. When I got a 3" downpipe and then testpipe. I didn't want to cut my catback and just replaced it with a new 3" catback. New style and sound.

For the ralliart, I'm sure you can fix the magna flow to 3", all the other exhausts are 3" straight through. (AMS).

Yes, I just had a CBE made with the Magnaflow, chopping off the restriction, and welding in a resonator.
It sounds so f-ing sick!
But yes the tapered end is there for stock cat bolt-up.

Any exhaust shop can whack it off and weld in a short 3" section. If you order through MAP it is an option right on their www site. I recommend doing this, for $50 on top of an already cheap exhaust it makes it 'perfect' for making big power.

Unfortunately, I didn't know about it in advance. I'll have to get it done at an exhaust shop but should be around $50-75 max.

Weird my magnaflow didnt have that big restriction...

theres like a half inch section thats a bit smaller then the rest right off the cat to cbe flange

Planning on loping it off to stick in a resonator as well... anyone got suggestion on which resonator works best?
