What are some good cams?

Is cams really needed for a bigger turbo than a stock x one? What are some good cams?

Based on your set-up, adding cams would go great with the X turbo. You may not want to go with a larger turbo if you are running stock transmission internals. Also, you are probably starting to get close to the max. engine capabilities.

I think if you added a stage 2 cam to your current set-up, it would be pretty amazing, and more cost effective. Also, get that high flow cat + cat-back on there.

Current goal is to make close to 400whp and just shy of 350wtq. That's all I want for now. sticking with the stock transmission internals. About the Catback exhaust, I'm still waiting for my refund from the shop I bought it from (DCSports dual exhaust). Never again will I buy this brand.

If you get a CBE + High flow cat, stage 2 cams, I think you can make 380-400whp with an X turbo w/e85 of course (you'll have to upgrade the injectors/fuel pump).

I need the tuning guru's to chime in.

You can switch to a bigger turbo (fp green, red, ef2 or ef3) and hit 400hp with e85 without cams. Cams would help though.

Cams are also fun if you're into the loping idle sound, but as mentioned, they are not necessary for your current goals.

Cosworth MX1 and Tomei Poncam are great, mild options for stock turbo applications but if you are going for a bigger turbo, the larger Kelford B's are a great option. I don't have any experience with the GSC cams, but I have heard good things about them, too.

Well I did some looking around and liked the Kelford 214B cams I plan to get out of the stock Evo x turbo within 6 months so I will go with these. Man those cost a lot over $600. That's not even being installed and would have to get the springs with it which is another $250. smh

Yep, I would budget around 2k for parts and install not including a retune.

I honestly wouldn't bother with cams with a stock X turbo. The return on investment isn't too good on that one. With higher flowing turbos, the cams are a better idea...

So your saying get the upgraded turbo first before the cams? Money is starting to get tight the closer Im getting the parts I want to complete my build.

If you are going with stock x turbo no need for cams if you are going with and ef2 then kelford cams they are amazing look at my mod list. Also on my horizon is finally a cat back my numbers are on a stock cb so I should close to 400 after that and a test pipe :-)

Thanks I will concentrate on upgrading stock turbo to an ef2. I looked at your build and its nice. You think I can get away with a walbro 255? How was cobb tuning, plano tx when you upgraded? My car will be back in TX in a couple of months and they will most likely work on my car due to Tephra not answering my email or questions about the Tephrax mod so I can duel map. Luckily I have an AP and can switch maps like that.

The 255 is fine if you plan on running just 93 octane unless you have a dual 255 then your are fine :-). Cobb did a great job on my car!!!
