+1, upgrade the turbo first. Even though you already did it once to put the X turbo in, put in a BBX Lite or an EF2 and leave the longblock stock.

The Tomei Poncam looks pretty good. The GSC S2 is also very good looking.

The Tomei never heard anything about it. The GSC S2 I did hear good things about these cams.

Tomei products are usually very understated and very high quality. Everyone who owns their products seems to praise them constantly, everyone who is unfamiliar with them usually goes bigger/more aggressive as Tomei products are usually designed leaning toward the street/track scene concentrating moreso on performance driveability and longevity than an all-out race application. Don't get me wrong, they have a number of applications out on some very well-performing track cars, but their focus seems to be more geared toward making the most of what you've got without pushing too far beyond the limits of reasonable operation.

The GSC S2 cams are pretty aggressive. As Kyle said, the Tomei cams are more versatile. For the RA, the Tomei cams are probably the way to go. The quality will be there and then some. Take a look at some of their other products for the Evolution X (MAPerformance sells a few things). The quality is very impressive. Their downpipe is pure pornography.

I have the stock turbo with the possibility of upgrading to a GTX3071 in the near future, but I'm doing cams now, should I go ahead with 270 Procams and get springs, or just go ahead and get the Poncams and call it a day. Im not trying to make insane numbers just something street able with good response. Ideas?

On the RA, without major supporting (transmission, etc) modification, it's unlikely that you'll be able to reach the max potential of that turbocharger without causing some serious damage. That being said, it is ultimately going to be up to you since you will be reaching the limits of the car far sooner than the limits of the cam with that turbo.

You also want to consider the fact that the smaller cam will operate better at the lower RPM range where a larger cam will allow the engine to really open up and breathe at higher rpm. Because you are already choosing a turbocharger capable of more power than any other RA or XMR (that I know of) is currently making, I would recommend going with the smaller Poncam since the turbocharger will be able to max you out in the upper RPM range without much effort.

Also, the Poncam has been said to idle VERY smoothly, so if you are into the lope that is generally associated with high-lift/long-duration cams, you'll have to either turn the idle WAY down low or just go with the Procams. Even then, they are known to be smoother than other cams in that same category/lift range (270-272).

Keep in mind that much of this is theory and information based on my personal experience with other vehicles/camshafts since I do not have personal experience with the Tomei Procams for the X/RA and if I am wrong in any way, someone please correct me.

So I guess Poncams it is. Do I have to buy the supporting springs associated with these cams or can I use the stock evo x/ ralliart springs?

I believe you need upgraded springs for those.

There are few bigger, a couple that comes to mind are a 2.2L MR running a 3076 and MR running a T3 5858 (a lot of very good builds on EvoX).

Tomei says you don't need to do springs with the Poncam, but it's a little extra insurance that you may want to do anyways since you're already in there.

I hadn't seen those yet, thanks. I'll have to go over there more often and check them out.
